Part of an early pneumatic tube system for ride-up banking. Put your gold dust, chickens, etc. into the carrier (pictured) then crank the blower handle to send it to the teller.

Two weeks waiting for a cable company maintenance guy to remove an outside wire (it rubbed against the power line) only to get a "Coffee Shop Closing" on my ticket. Then three more weeks for them to admit the wire was still there and send someone out to actually remove it.

It's an Arlo and Hitchison single beam sandwich cutter. Our grade school had a war surplus one and even though it was a bit worn, a lunch lady could turn turn out thirty PB&J sandwiches, cut in half with the crusts cut off in about twenty minutes. A really skilled operator could turn out enough fancy finger sandwiches in a hour for garden parties or tea in the officers mess.

Yup, SKS blade bayonets are about an inch wide. IIRC, the blade style was used on early production rifles - until 1950 maybe. After that they switched to the spike (again if IIRC) because it's cheaper and easier to make. It's the same sort of logic that went into the evolution of the British SMLE bayonet.
