Cary: Because Al Jaffee was a cartoonist, well known for his work on MAD magazine? No one wears a hat anymore, and tipping one's hat is a very old custom that was dying out when I was a teenager in the 1950s. It was still a viable cultural habit during Al's time, though. I would love to know why I should be tipping my hat to him, unless he invented crazy furniture. :) Hmmm.....
Edward: I try my hardest to make these things flawed, useless and laughable but on occasion I come up with something workable by mistake. I have a fan from many years ago who emails me telling me of my ideas that became real products. I would say that there is not much wrong with the wifi/TV/cam/Facebook/Skype accessible foldup treadmill furniture concept. I guess I failed by making it functional. LOL
Noelegy: I would like one too. But imagine what it would be like using the inversion therapy feature after having come home from work (an old concept, I realize) and having tossed down a few drinks. I like to amuse myself creating these things!
Adam is the consummate cartoonist! I love his line work, his sense of humor, his composition, his use of color. He is a master of his craft, very versatile. Go Adam!
Michaelpeets: I hope the existence of cereal and its availability is not your ONLY reason for getting up. Some days, the existence of coffee and its availability is my only reason for getting up. Steve
Randi: I have to laugh (at myself). The truth is I design these pseudo-products quickly, and never spend the hours testing and fine-tuning them that a real inventor would. For example, the Easy Tip would need to have a mechanism for shielding the magnet-bottomed dishes from the steel dining table surface, such as place mats of a special thickness, or else a diner would be unable to lift a coffee cup to his or her lips, or if the cup resisted and broke free of the metal table there would be hot coffee everywhere. Any concept that I might spend 25 minutes designing would actually require days and weeks of testing for proof of concept, materials integrity, etc. And if I find I have created a concept that amuses me, it is because it has an obvious flaw! I read recently that more patents are filed in the U.S. Patent Office these days by teams than by individuals. I can see why!
Hey Ron, I checked out the link and can see why you thought of it where I had mentioned "drawer bender" accidents. I like how our idea of what is safe in the context of a moving automobile continues to evolve. That folding seat seems comical now. I owned a '29 Model A Ford while in high school and it had a rumble seat, which would not pass any of today's safety standards. :)
Randi: At first I had no idea what you were referring to. I wondered if you were implying that Alex is offering his kids liquor, with the result that they turn their dad's minivan into a chaotic mess! No, you meant that the picnicking parents were getting their baby drunk on wine. Hmm... I see how you might have thought that. Then, if we are to carefully analyze my drawings, we must wonder why the daughter who's grabbing a soft drink from the refrigerator looks so furtive and sneaky. Is she addicted to diet soft drinks?
JBSpesh: You and I are in complete agreement that this is a dumb idea. In fact all of my ideas are purposely dumb, intended as humorous and not serious solutions.

I love it.
