Snow Leia and the Seven Droids ended abruptly when the princess turned aside the Evil Queen's proffered apple and instead shot her with a blaster. Then she rescued the Prince, who was sleeping inside a block of carbonite.
Sebastian Errazuriz is an inventive artist and designer whose work we've featured extensively. He's always got a new, usually surreal take on the objects that should fill our lives. In the past, we've seen his coffin that is a functional boat, a coat made of teddy bears, and his seemingly magical wave cabinet.
Errazuriz also made this outright funny piece. He found a taxidermied duck with a broken neck at a museum. It was going to be thrown away, but Errazuriz has instead turned it into a great conversation piece.
Lots of comics deal with the differences between cats and dogs, since they are the most popular pets for pencil jockeys, but there has never been a collection of difference drawings quite like this series by Bird Born.
That's because Bird Born only finished the series about a year ago, so if they look like comic drawings starring cats and dogs you remember reading as a kid you're probably thinking of Garfield or Heathcliff.
It's easy to mistake Bird Born's comical cells for some cute strip from yesteryear, because there's just something so classic about his comics!
Ripley and Hicks in Aliens (1986) | Image: Twentieth Century Fox
The number of factors that are involved in whether a movie character is written out of a subsequent script can be huge. Maybe the actor was a nightmare to work with and no one (especially the director) wants a repeat performance. Maybe the actor asked for a huge salary hike and the franchise found the desire unrealistic and were unwilling to meet the demand. Or perhaps the character simply doesn't make sense in the context of the new script, and the principals want "new blood." It could even be a combination of all of the previously listed factors and some in addition.
Ultimately, whatever the reason for the character/actor taking a powder, the audience is presented with a reason for the absence. Sometimes the explanation runs the range of "not well fleshed out" to "patently ridiculous."
7) Newt, Hicks and Bishop in Alien 3:
Ripley’s entire ragtag family died on impact when the Sulaco crash-landed onto a prison planet—or more accurately, they were impaled (Hicks), drowned (Newt) and deactivated (Bishop). They are eulogized thusly:
“Why? Why are the innocent punished? Why the sacrifice? Why the pain? There aren’t any promises. Nothing’s certain. Only that some get called, some get saved."
Mexican artist Pedro Reyes and his wife, fashion designer Carla Fernández, are renovating and redesigning their home in Mexico City. Among the features that they're putting in place in the old Brutalist house are Reyes's own Mano-Sillas chairs. Each one looks like a hand opening up to offer you a place to sit.

My favorite part about these unique chairs is that the fingers and thumbs are articulated. You can move them around to express particular gestures fit for different occasions.
Przemek Krawczyński's gourds are radically different from any that I've ever seen before. From his studio in Lodz, Poland, he takes the dried fruits and crafts them into beautiful lamps that cast mesmerizing shadows on every surface of a room.
I've heard my kids have this conversation on the right almost verbatim. And I've had the one on the left in my head many times. Is it awkward? Do they think that I'm awkward? Do they actually want to be with me or are they just being pleasant in order to have a calm working environment? Oh, no, now they're reading my weird facial expressions!
Do you think racial sensitivity has gone too far in America? Your response will determine whether you find this billboard offensive or not.
Believe it or not this billboard has caused all kinds of controversy since it was spotted along the 201 freeway in Utah and posted online, with people claiming it's reminiscent of segregationist attitudes.
But as it turns out Sam Russell, founder of Where White People Meet, says his dating website isn't racially insensitive at all, claiming he's not a racist because he "dated a black woman once".
Whether you think Sam's dating site is racist or not consider this- there are all kinds of racially specific dating sites out there, including Black People Meet, JDate and the racially harmonious BlackWhitePeopleMeet.
A magical thing happens every time we say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new- everything we cared about from the old year dies.
It's not a physical death, and since we share so much of ourselves online that old year's stuff still lives on forever in virtual space, but according to the interwebs stuff from last year is no longer relevant and therefore "dead".
That includes viral content, top news stories and, of course, or beloved memes. Remember when you gave a crap about Left Shark for a total of two weeks back in February?
No love for that hungry little guy either, eh? Well then let me introduce you to Demi Lovato's basement dwelling twin sister Poot, she's far more frightening than Left Shark or Pizza Rat so you'll simply adore her!
Carol Burnett is an amazing comedian, a vibrant host and a consummate professional, and with her at the helm The Carol Burnett Show ran along smoothly for over a decade.
Back in 1974 the show welcomed The Jackson 5 to take part in a sketch about a music class taught by a real square teacher, a sketch that did not include any mention of an earthquake.
They say the more time you spend in Southern California the less you notice earthquakes, and judging by the way everyone just disregards the trembling they're all very familiar with the SoCal shuffle!
It's officially 2016, which means all the old clothes you own are so last year!
Just kidding, of course, but there's nothing like starting the new year with some fresh new clothes, and there's nowhere fresher and geekier than the NeatoShop, home of thousands designs that will blow your mind!
We start the New Year by changing our calendars and writing a new date on our checks and stuff
With hamburger buns, hot dog buns, salami, provolone, and what looks like some pumpernickel bread, you've got a tasty lunch. And you've got Pluto, too!
Erin Jang is an artist and graphic designer in New York City. She's also a mom, which certainly makes meals fun for her son. She assembles ingredients into popular Disney characters. You can find them on her Instagram feed.
Japanese Twitter user @masamasan recently visited an acupuncture clinic that is covered from floor to ceiling with merchandise and images from the anime series Is the Order a Rabbit? I've seen the show. It's pretty good and not the slightest bit creepy, but the designer of this acupuncture clinic has managed to undo that, ah, limitation.
New Year's Eve and drunken revelry go hand-in-hand, and nowadays many countries associate New Year's Eve celebrations with rampant binge drinking and people acting wild in the streets.
But to properly showcase the sloppy nature of the night you've got to catch those celebrants in the raw- uncouth, uncaring and often unable to stand.
Some of these scenes resemble the tragic and comedic tableaus found in classical paintings, as those who have chosen to ring in the new year by getting blind stinking drunk are swept up in the bakkheia of Bacchus.
