Little House on the Prairie: For Adults Only?

The DVD release of the TV series Little House on the Prairie will be flagged "for adults only" in Finland! Universal Pictures did not want to pay for the Finnish government to inspect each episode to see if they are suitable for children.
Finnish authorities charge 2 euros ($2.57) per minute for assessing the correct age limit on films and television series. Distributors who forego this can only sell their shows with a sticker saying "Banned for under-18s."

"Long series can get quite expensive to check, and some use this exemption in the law to their advantage," said Matti Paloheimo, Director at the Finnish Board of Film Classification.

"Such unchecked material should not be shown to children publicly," he added

Although I loved the books as a child, I think someone would have to pay me, too, to watch all the TV shows. Link -Thanks, CheeseDuck!

Corey Vidal is a professional YouTube producer. He's also a singer, but he didn't sing all the parts in this tribute to the music of John Williams. That honor goes to Moosebutter, a comedic barbershop quartet. Vidal lip-syncs to all four parts. Link -Thanks, AJ!

Pelican Eats Dog?

You've seen pictures of pelicans eating extraordinary things on the internet. But a pelican eating a dog? That's what it looks like, but Petri the pelican was just angry that the dog stole her chicken snack. Roland Adam, owner of the exotic bird farm in Germany where Petri lives, explains.
"I was preparing foods for the birds in our outdoor kitchen, when I noticed Petri at my side looking for a snack," explained the 38-year-old. "I decided to feed her one of the chicks I had been preparing when Katijina raced in, caught the frozen bird mid-air and gobbled up Petri's dinner."

Confused and slightly irritated by missing out on the proffered snack, Petri decided to scour every inch of the Rhodesian ridgeback - named Katijina - for the discarded chick.

The dog was unharmed. Link -via Arbroath

The Kids Halloween Candy Code

Kids helping each other out on Halloween can put a chalk mark at the bottom of the driveway to let later trick-or-treaters know what to expect. The pictured symbols mean "Dentist", "Werther's Originals", and "Reeces Pieces"! I'm afraid I'll go from "miserly portions" to "out of candy, now giving out sauce packets from Taco Bell." Angry-Faced Cars

People see faces when they look at the fronts of cars. What they see can influence what they buy. A consulting group arranged a research study to find out what personality traits cars appear to have, and which ones people would prefer on the car they drive.
Study participants assessed cars based on a system known as geometric morphometrics (GM), which allowed the men and women to rate certain traits on a sliding scale (such as "infancy" to "adulthood"). The traits represented maturity, sex, attitudes, emotions, and personality — all things that people infer from human faces at a single glance.

After rating car traits, participants then answered the question of whether they saw a human face, animal face or no face at all on the cars. They drew facial features such as eyes, nose and mouth on the car images whenever they did see faces.

Lastly, the study participants answered whether they liked a car or not. The study restricted car choices to passenger cars, because hulking SUVs would have skewed the results.

People overwhelmingly preferred cars that rated highest on "power" traits." High "power" cars like the BMW 5 Series tended to be lower or wider, and have slit-like or angled headlights with a wider air intake.

This video is a bit disturbing. The cat seems to never move, but it gets closer and closer. This may give me nightmares. I'm glad my cats aren't that sneaky. -via reddit
