Muzition, there are 32 scholarships awarded to the 212 finalists.
Also relevant to the discussion of this situation is the fact that he can reapply for the Rhodes scholarship after he graduates from college. About a third of recent winners have done exactly that.

I don't understand why it would only occur at a certain time of year. If the sun were rising in a different part of the horizon, wouldn't the shadow just be cast in a different direction?

The problem with polls like this is that unless you have read them all, you are not really voting for the "best of the list" but rather the best of the ones you have read.
To do this properly, they should ask people first to tick off the ones they're read, then list the best ten of those. Then the data could be compiled by adjusting upvotes per frequency of being read. Otherwise it's more a familiarity/popularity test.

From the photo it looks like a powerful magnet; would it have any adverse effect on electronic keys?

I'll bet he can retract his testicles into his pelvis via his inguinal canal, so that he winds up just hitting his pelvic bones with the objects - less impressive by a log power than hitting the testes.

That 1,300 figure must apply only to farmed traditional turkeys, not the wild ones.
