Minnesotastan's Comments
I've never heard the phrase "single-o" before, but it certainly makes more sense. I've corrected the post and sent an email to the author of the original quiz. Thanks.

My mistake. The video wasn't in fact embedded - just linked. Duh. (I don't know how to erase my prior lame comment).

How does one go about embedding a video when the YouTube code says "Embedding disabled by request"? Is there a way to bypass that restriction, or was the limitation added later after the Queue submitter had obtained the code?

The risk/benefit of turning off a car's engine at a stoplight was discussed by Tom and Ray in a Car Talk column five years ago -

@Martin - I haven't thought this out in detail, but I suppose if I were planning to "elk" someone, I would shoot an elk (or procure some appropriate roadkill), store the frozen head/mouth and the antlers and hooves. Then I'd surprise my victim on a lonely hiking trail, stab them with the elk antler, slobber the (defrosted) elk mouth on them, and carry away the body parts after leaving some elk prints in the soil (and erasing my boot marks). Even better would be to attach the hooves to the bottom of my boots.
It's starting to sound like a Monty Python sketch...
(Although now that I think about it, there may have been a Sherlock Holmes epidode in which an animal claw or such was used as a murder weapon.)

This incident has now been blogged at Arbroath, where the first two comments address the possibility (curiously not raised in the thread here) that the man could have murdered his wife with an elk's horn or hoof and then sprinkled her body with some secretions from a carcass...
Agatha Christie or John Dickson Carr would have thought of that.

Well, perhaps just one more. How about Elton John with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert...

This stunt is much less impressive than it seems. In the absence of nasal congestion, allergies, etc virtually all adults can accommodate the passage of a Q-tip, a nasogastric tube, an endoscope... or a nail... without much difficulty. Mr. Rydelek may have taught himself to suppress his sneeze reflex, or he may have surreptitiously wiped or sprayed the nasal mucosa with a little lidocaine before the demonstration.
The "dangers" of sneezing out the nail are similarly exaggerated; the reflex inhalation would be oral rather than nasal, and the expulsion of the nail would be straight rather than angled through the nose as they show.
I'm surprised this was sponsored by NatGeo. Seems like something prepared for a network television program.

It is the same man that Alex posted earlier.

The Wired article doesn't include the "herm" (or herman) - a measurement equal to one cubic mouthful. Perhaps it wasn't considered sufficiently geeky.

Am I the only one who finds this vaguely depressing - as in "don't remind me..."
