Dune is very certainly one of the great epic films. Regardless of it's flaws, very few world building movies have ever pulled off so unique an atmosphere. The soundtrack was totally critical toward that end. Maybe the fact that I was 10 when it came out helped. My dad and I literally didn't get up after it ended and watched the movie a second time. It really could do with a directors cut that includes some but not all of the extra footage seen in the British TV version.
Assuming the best of intentions here, but vocational schools serve the same classist and often racist agenda presently in place with the tracking system. Working class kids take wood shop and middle/upper-middle class kids take art or music. The central assumption is that people don't have class mobility and that it's more efficient for schools to funnel kids in the direction we are assuming (and enforcing) they should go. Practicality gives way to social engineering and you are left with feudalism. This is not a progressive vision for our country and really the kind of idea that emerged during the days of eugenics.
#firstworldproblems I have no free will. I'm in endless corporate jock high school and must bend to peer pressure and buy everyone drinks because people who can afford that do and in order to be successful you must present the appearance of success at all times. Pitiful. These dorks require forced re-education consisting of abject poverty.
