Johnny Cat's Comments

My cat vanished recently, and before she returned, I got a lot of flak for not microchipping her. Hmmm, I wonder why their chip didn't work to the point where they'd given up hope.

There should be more circuitry tattoos in general. Knowledge is power, and knowledge of electrical concepts is powerful times two. I adore his amp-tat.

Anyone remember a sci-fi short story about a futuristic society that was trying to launch a rocket into space, but as it turns out they had risen from the ashes of a previous Earth who nuked themselves into caves for many years, and none of their knowledge of electricity was preserved. Instead, they were depending on mechanical controls only, and kept having launch failures until one guy figured out the key to electrical control.

I can't recall the title.

When I got my real estate license in Washington, I was fascinated by their Adverse Possession law, which states that if someone squats on your property for 10 years, without you filing a complaint, they own your property. This seems different, unless by "swooped in" they mean staked out 10 years earlier.

I'm one of the few fans of John Hughes that was actually non-plussed by FBDO, and to me, a sequel in this day and age is quite repulsive. Maybe they should combine it with Hangover 3: Ferris Bueller's Hangover.

2 hours drive is one thing, but when you have a major river (the Columbia) sticking its tongue into the ocean, nature has a way of speeding things up when it comes to giant tidals.

Most predictions say the trainyards in Portland will be underwater when the big one hits. Not a terrible catastrophe, but not great for people on the coast, either.

@CarlosHawes:
Forget about the mountains you mentioned. Hood and Rainer are sleeping in comas, and St Helens is nothing but a minor belcher now. However, you do have a point about the fault off the coast that would cause the western part of Portland to flood from the tsunami wave. And the quake that would cause it is way overdue.
