Glass sculptor Ginger ELA, inspired by a squirrel, made herself a gravy boat in the shape of a cat. The gravy is poured out of the cat's mouth. The effect is that of a cat barfing up delicious gravy, syrup, or whatever you put in. What a lovely sight to see! You can watch the gravy kitty in action in a video at her site. Link -via Geekologie

Buzzfeed rounded up some cute and clever "expectancy" announcements that tell more in pictures than in words. There's 23 of them, and it was hard to pick an example, but I was drawn to this math-based photograph. Go see the rest! Link
The blog Pregnant Chicken rounded up a whole slew of pumpkins and Jack O'Lanterns that were arranged and carved in such a way as to illustrate a pumpkin giving birth. Many of them appear to be from obstetrician's offices and maternity wards, because they need Halloween decorations, too! Be warned that as funny as they are, some images may be a little too graphic for the very young or very sensitive. Link
What happens when Madame de Pompadour and the TARDIS become one? The Doctor must start shaking with excitement... and the result would probably look something like this.

Neatoramanaut Marcelle took this photo of delicious, refreshing, seasonal watermelons. -Thanks, Marcelle!
Like many of us, Maneesh Sethi gets distracted by the Interweb at work and his productivity suffers because of it (ahem, and yes, I realize you're probably doing the same thing by reading Neatorama right now - mea culpa!). But the man has got a pretty unique solution to this problem: he hired someone via Craigslist to slap him in the face if he went off task.
Nothing makes me more embarassed than seeing the amount of hours I spend wasted on Reddit and Facebook chat.
38% productive. That means that almost 19 hours of my time last week were wasted—disappeared, never to be seen again.
I figured, “This is stupid, why am I wasting this time doing nothing? When I have a boss, or someone of authority watching me, I always get my work done. How can I simulate the authority figure?”
Naturally, I believe that an authority figure should have real authority. And I am a big fan of Slap Bets. Put those together — and I realized I needed someone to make me work, with permission to slap me in the whenever I cheated.
So I went on Craigslist, put up an advertisement, and waited to see if anyone would bite.
See if Maneesh's experiment worked over at his blog Hack The System: Link - via TNW

Because they're melting!!!!! Melting!!!!!!! -In the most delicious way possible.
This past Saturday, the University of South Carolina beat Georgia, but the football game will be remembered for something completely different. A message from Sergeant First Class Scott Faile, stationed in South Korea, was relayed to his South Carolina wife and kids via the stadium's giant video screen. The sound on the video is not great, but I'm sure you can follow what happens. You might want to grab a hankie. -via Blame It On The Voices
When I first saw this picture, I assumed someone in the neighborhood who had suspicions wrote this on a parked truck. But according to WBIR, this truck was stopped by police in Memphis. Someone was actually driving it with "METH LAB" written on the windows!
After being stopped for a license plate violation early Friday morning, the driver was arrested for outstanding warrants and other meth-related charges.
The meth cooker in the truck was removed by a hazmat crew. Link -via reddit
You know how you reach an error page of a website, and it often says "Not Found"? The European NotFound Project wants to use those pages to place notices for missing children. What could have been just a sad pun is another way to use available space to spread the word about children who have never been found. And if one child is found because of it, the whole project will be worth the effort. Link -via Laughing Squid
This educational game has several parts, one in which a rabbit eats your garden up, another where farm animals dance, and one in which pumpkins come in all colors ...possibly because they're in a mushroom field. The company that produces the game only promises to teach your child English words. Teaching them how to be polite about their choices and not eat glass is up to you. You can play the game online. Dashrath Manjhi lived in the little village of Gahlour, Bihar, India. The nearest medical facility was in Gaya, which was only about 8 km away as the crow flies, but 50 km away by road due to a mountain. Manjhi's wife, Falguni Devi, was injured in the 1950s, and died on the long route to the hospital. Manjhi (and his neighbors) were of low caste and therefore the village was low on the government's priority list for road building. So in honor of his late wife, Manjhi took it upon himself in 1959 to cut through the mountain to provide medical access to his village. By himself. With hand tools.
He knew his voice will not create any reaction in the deaf ear of the government; therefore, Dashrath chose to accomplish this Herculean task alone. He sold his goats to purchase chisel, rope and a hammer. People would call him mad and eccentric spirited with no idea of his plans. Unfazed by his critics’ discouraging remarks, Dashrath hammered consistently for 22 long years to shorten the distance from 50km to 10km between Atri and Wazirganj. The day came when he stepped through a flat passage — about one-km long and 16-feet wide — to his dream, ‘the other side of the hill’.
Manjhi became famous for his accomplishment, and was given a state funeral upon his death in 2007. He was also the subject of a movie. However, Manjhi's family is still impoverished and the road he cut is still unpaved. Link -via Metafilter, where'll you'll find additional links.
