We got rid of horse hair beds and carpet pads a century ago. When horses were the main mode of transportation, disposing of them was an industry. The meat went into pet food. The skins were used for (occasionally high-end) shoes. The hair was cheap filler. Compared to modern materials, horse hair mats easily and quickly. It can be a food source for vermin. No thank you.
