Robert Beverly Hale (relative of 'Man Without a Country' Edward Everett Hale) used head widths: A head width = a collar bone = a shoulder blade = sternum (breastbone). It's one head width from top of head to base of nose to pit of neck to top of sternum to base of sternum to points of ribcage to bumps on pelvis (anterior superior iliac spine). A thigh bone = 3 head widths. A shin is 80% of that. A foot is 80% of that. An upper arm bone = 2 head widths. A forearm is 80% of that. A hand is 80% of that.
