I find it unbelievable that Dr. Seuss never used the word "fleam" for one of his characters. Here you find the flinty fleam. He likes to balance on a beam. He carries bricks on top of sticks and mixes them with cream. Well, something like that
This is a very nice design. At some point, in-hospital birth using a table became the norm, at least in the U.S.A. The position may have been adopted for the comfort of the obstetrical staff, but forces a mother to deliver a baby against gravity. I wonder if there are birthing chairs or tables that are designed more rationally, making the comfort of the mother and success of birth the priority.
In response to a comment on the linked page, the proofreader wrote "I was just having a laugh with it. I didn’t even think about returning this to the potential employee!"
I had been taught that a job application and cover letter should be carefully written, in order to reflect my own care and attention to detail. They are the first point of contact with a potential employer, and so provide the only initial indication of my work attitudes and skills. Today, with computer word processing (my use of this term shows that I am old), it is easy to find and correct the most obvious errors of spelling and grammar.
It appears that this advice is not universally received.
There's a whole world of crazy, weird and beautiful people. Talented people. Skilled people. People with big hearts. People who suffer with their hearts torn out.
In years past, they were known only to the few around them, each in a limited field. The daily drama of life taking place within each life.
Today, with the Internet and especially with such sites as YouTube, we can share in these moments. Learning things we never would have dared ask about. Telling thousands or millions of people our story in an instant. Finding out that we are not alone.
What a wonderful world that I never dreamed existed all around me. To think that I should have lived to see such a day . . . I am grateful.
