The Black Cauldron, Robin Hood, and Atlantis aren't underrated. They got the ratings they deserved because they just weren't good films. The main character in The Black Cauldron was completely useless. The Princess was only a princess by name. The comic relief was weak as well. The only thing about that movie I liked WAS the villain. He was delightful. As for Robin Hood, it was sloppily thrown together, had more re-used animation than any other Disney film, and had a villain who was so pathetic I wasn't even happy when he was defeated. Not to mention the out-of-the-blue romance that didn't work at all. And don't even get me started on Atlantis. Milo James Thatch was a gary stu from beginning to end. He could read writings that people who KNEW the language couldn't read. He got everything handed to him. And he wound up marrying a super hot princess on top of it even though he never did ANYTHING for himself. "Hey, Milo, you can somehow read this language, even though there's no way you could have learned it, so we're gonna give you a submarine, a crew, and protection from harm because, let's face it, your only purpose is reading. Oh, and in the end you're going to marry the hot girl even though you pretty much did nothing." Disney makes good films. No one is denying that. But they have put out some stinkers and those three are among them.
