Not only is "Liberal" problematic, I'm not sure Franken can be described as a "comedian" either.

OK, BC, I can understand how watching a 400x300 (approx.) pixel version that appears to be horizontally compressed and distorted might not thrill you. And you're obviously entitled to your own opinion.
But when all is said and done, if there was ever a encyclopedia entry for "Movie Car Chase" the definitive definition would be: "the one in Bullitt". And most people, unlike yourself with all due respect, would concur.
See also the definitive definition of Martial Arts Movie fighter: Bruce Lee.
Or Martial Arts Movie Stunts: Jackie Chan.

One of the reasons the Bullitt car chase is widely acclaimed as the best car chase ever, even amongst today's stunt professionals is that they actually did it all without faking anything. They really were going at 75 to 100 mph and above. I was lucky to attend a special screening of Bullitt at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Blvd. back in 2002:
http://www.americancinematheque.com/archive1999/2002/stevemcqueen.htm
at which Steve's stuntman Bud Ekins, Cinematographer Bill Fraker and one of the actors gave a talk and a QandA. One thing I remember is that Fraker said he saw the speedo reach 95 while he was directing the camera mounted on a motorbike sidecar.
To me, the reason that it's the best ever is that it's told like a story and not done as an excuse for specific spills and thrills. As such, it doesn't take you out of the movie by being far fetched.
Those newer car chases that may "blow this out of the water" are almost invariably done with an eye for specific stunt scenarios, and are often unbelievable in terms of the superhuman feats of driving skills, or implausible survivals from crashes, for example.
Even the famous chase scene from "French Connection", just a few years after Bullitt was something that somehow didn't fit into the rest of the movie.
And the more recent famous scene from "Ronin", shot on the "busy" streets of Paris (nowhere near as busy as a realistic day) involved a lot of faking, and implausible escapes and close shaves. Thrilling, it may be, but they did it first and best in Bullitt.

Do a thought experiment, you incompassionate moralizing trolls: You're a young person who may not wake up tomorrow morning, or may die at any time due to the dreadful disease you have that unfortunately we don't yet have a cure for. Your hormones have been raging since your teens, but you had the strength, self-control, and even the grace to not make an issue about it until the age of 22. What is the harm to anyone if you ask a person of the opposite sex to accept payment for an experience you'll probably only ever have just once but that you may have dreamed about ten thousand times?
There's something seriously wrong with people who chime in with comments demeaning this poor kid, or even to think the story isn't worthy of a moment's contemplation.
Thanks for posting it, Neatorama. It may not be "Neat" but sometimes it's worth finding out about a story that gives you pause for thought and humbles you.
I hope he gets more than just the one experience.

Happy New Year! Thanks for being a site worth visiting every day of the year.
However, I think peace is overrated. As P.J. O'Rourke would say: "Give war a chance".

Can anyone "show their work"? The Coudal site just shows a fish speaking German. If you're going to put up a challenging, stimulating, and supposedly famous historic puzzle set by Einstein himself, then please do it justice by showing everyone how the miracle of logic works, rather than being coy and smug about it. Otherwise, future puzzles you and Coudal put up only attract the logic elite who solved this one. The "what the hell is this object" posts are more illuminating in that they show different ways people try to come at an answer. All we've got so far on this one is the answer and no illuminative explanation.

You lefties can live in cloud cuckoo land if you want and continue to believe anglo-western style democracies like the US are not at war with jihadi-islamo-facists, but personally I don't have my head in the sand. This war is only going to get worse, and the Republicans are not your enemies.
Please get the politics out of your site Alex and keep entertaining us instead. You need to see past your own leftie bias and realize that one side winning in the USA elections is not Neatorama material for half your audience.
Not good business sense if you want to keep growing your audience.

Yes Alex - you've really opened up a scintillating dialog here, haven't you? I don't care whether you're right or left inclined; posting political entries your neat pop culture website just serves to spoil the site and dilute your reputation here. Perhaps you want to try posting on abortion, or the 2nd Amendment, or any number of other divisive issues and see how well those fit in amongst the pop culture entries.
Makes no sense. Don't self destruct. Resume normal service please...

Do yourself a big favor Alex and never post on politics again.
This is not "Neat", this is polarizing politics.
You have one of the best pop culture blogs going. Don't alienate readers by turning into a Boingboing.net which spews hard core lefty hateful crap alongside the cool pop stuff. I stopped visiting that site when it got ridiculous.
Of course - maybe you want to weed out the people who don't share your opinions on this issue, in which case you risk losing 50 percent of your audience.

Perhaps you might like to see an extensive analysis of recent photo-jounalism and manipulation:

http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005700.htm
it all started when "neutral" Reuters realized that one of their own contractors was a little bit biased enough to doctor his own photos...
http://michellemalkin.com/archives/005670.htm
Hopefully, you'll be a little bit more skeptical every time you read or see a Reuters report, or even a BBC report for that matter.
Do you like your news objective, or do you like it to pretend to be objective?
Also - more to the point - do you like the reporter to wish you dead or alive? Check back to the original photo of this post before you decide...

This sort of BoingBoing-like politically-charged post is why I don't go there anymore and come here instead. Please don't go down that road. I don't want to see Hillary or Obama or other lefties covered/pilloried here either. I'm in a different mode when I surf for pop culture, and that is a richer and more inclusive field.
