Adam Stanhope's Comments

Greg:

You're being so disingenuous. The title of my post must have been so offensive that it forced all these readers to come in and comment negatively!

Confession: I don't *love* every post that appears on this blog! I love this blog - but not every post tickles my fancy. I even SKIP SOME POSTS because they don't interest me. There have even been a few whose subjects have been PERSONALLY DISAGREEABLE TO ME. I didn't read those ones, either.

Look - some silly people in San Francisco are making a silly statement and it is newsworthy and "neat" because it is funny. I'm not taking it seriously - are you?

Free offer to everyone:

If you'd like me to instruct you how to get the RSS feed for this site minus posts placed by me, I'll be happy to do so.

Oh, grow up why don't you, "seeya." Perhaps as many as THREE posts out of the last THOUSAND that appeared here had anything to do with politics.

It's a light-hearted general interest story in the International Herald Tribune and it's funny. Is there anything I could possibly say or do to make George Bush less popular than he already is? Do you think, perhaps, that the International Herald Tribune erred in publishing the story, too?

If a group of citizens wanted to change the name of their city's "Blowjob Museum" to "The Bill Clinton Blowjob Museum," I'd post about it, too.

I'm sorry to hear that you're choosing to leave. Perhaps you can find a bubble inside a vacuum to live in from now on where your feelings won't be hurt the next time somebody - GASP - criticizes a politician in a humorous and irreverent fashion.

Allison:

"Ma na ma na" is one that strikes a strong emotional chord with me as well.

My family (Mom, dad, sister and I) did a driving trip all around the US in the summer of 1978 when I was 8 years old. The cassette player that dad bought for the van was state of the art and something pretty special for the time, I think. One of the handful of cassettes we had along for the ride was from the Muppets. Ma na ma na was on that cassette and it was burned into my brain. Whenever I hear it I am instantly transported back to being 8 years old and exploring the Painted Desert or visiting The Corn Palace or reading signs for Wall Drug.

Yay for the Muppets!

I have a confession to make.

I know that this is going to be difficult for some of my fellow liberals here. I'm sorry. I've been carrying this baggage around for years now and I really need to get it off my chest.

I *love* Kansas City, Missouri and Atlanta, Georgia. I love them!

Ostracize me if you must. I guess I'll understand. I know that enjoying just a SINGLE city that is known for its conservatism is a betrayal of my own ideals and that of the secret consolidated liberal movement to introduce Socialism into these United States. I CANNOT deny it any further, however. Both Kansas City, Missouri and Atlanta, Georgia lift my spirits in ways that I hardly understand. Why do I feel warmth and happiness in both of these places?

Go ahead and excommunicate me from the our secret cabal if you must. I have to stay true to my heart and in my heart, conservative KC and ATL have their own special places.

We all know that you're engaging in hyperbole here, Martha Allen, et al.

Even a total Bush supplicant should be able to appreciate the JOKE upon which this news story is based. Remember jokes? You know - HAHAHA?

@Larfin Jackarse

Cool name, btw...

She is not a real Spears family member. She's pretending to be Jamie Lynn Spears - The Britney's younger sister.

I don't recognize any particular tune that it is based on, although that is certainly a possibility.

As for the humorous attempt to rename the Sewage Treatment Plant after Bush... Have all remaining Bush supporters become hollowed out shells of their former selves, void of personality and stripped of a sense of humor?

Living his lie for the past 8 years has really done a number on you. I hope you'll be able to work through it once he's gone. The rest of the country needs you back with your sanity intact.

I would have thought that even those who carry hatred in their hearts for the people and culture of San Francisco would still be able to recognize and concede that it is a breathtakingly beautiful city sitting astride the Bay, as it does on one side and the Pacific on the other. I can't understand how anyone could live there and not appreciate at least some aspects of the city's visual appeal. It is truly a unique and special place. I love it.
