Depending on how you look at it, the largest supercomputer could be the Folding@Home project, which has peaked at over 1,000 teraflops.

In comparison, if every single neuron in the human brain fires at its max rate (~200 times per second), you'd have an internal 100 teraflop super computer. Unfortunately you'd probably also die from what is essentially a massive full-brain seizure ... your max sustained teraflops are probably closer to 5-10 teraflops (still VERY fast).

According to the site, the oars are only used when absolutely necessary in ports or other close quarters, to ensure the ship doesn't run into other boats.

Hmmm ... I didn't think it was really cruel. It seemed like an easy way to convince squirrels not to come onto your property without seriously hurting or killing them. It was certainly a plus that it was funny.

My mom did something similar, but every time a squirrel or skunk would step on a 4x8 plywood sheet it would trigger a radio to blare (at deafening levels). Within a few months our critter problem was solved.

Awesome!

You just made me remember that I had an old post that I forgot to publish on a girl who crochets choker necklaces with keyboard jewelry. You can now see the kinda cool necklaces here.

Denita - We just had one of our cars (a 98 Saturn) appraised at $800, so you could probably buy a fleet of 58+ quality cars if you were so inclined.

Luckily I have a boy, so I don't have to make such difficult decisions. ;)

Alright, I'm a COMPLETE nerd. Just spent 2 hours learning to beat the game.

FYI to UFO - It's mathematically impossible to beat the game with only Fire towers. You need combo elementals by level 30ish (and 10-20 of them to get past levels 38 and 39).

Off to bed ;)

This is HARD, at least for me. The hardest part was that later boards still don't give you much gold for each creep killed. After a few tries I got up to 32, but then ~40 creeps just flew through (I think I hit 1 of the 40).

Water seemed worthless, as were the regular towers after the first 10 or so levels. I wonder if the secret is the combo elemental towers (which I didn't research)?

At $15,000 a year, a single mother would be best served to invest in some type of personal property (e.g. house or condo) instead of retirement. That way she'll build equity that she can roll into a larger home, or retirement way down the line. At that income level, saving for retirement on top of rent/living expenses just isn't practical or advisable.

I just realized that once the next island is exposed (far left), the islands will spell out "Jill". Cool.

Lisa - most likely we wouldn't destroy the earth, we'd just destroy most of the creatures (including ourselves) that roam the earth. After our departure, the earth would go back to its normal cyclical weather patterns, and new species would appear that never would have w/o global warming.

Not like that's a very good excuse to ignore global warming ...
