I completely understand the urge to turn in the money. Either it belongs to someone who may really need it, or it belongs to some dangerous folks. So the consequence of keeping is that either someone suffers for lack of that needed cash, or you do. In a word, it's bad karma.

Mathematically, you didn't have it before, so you don't really lose it if you turn it in. Philosophy saves the day, and your life.

Maybe it's a manumatic? Does anyone know?

While my car was in the shop, I drove a rented Elantra with manumatic. I didn't learn on a stick, so I didn't quite get used to it. Maybe I should have visualized arcade games more. There was a racer with a hi-lo gear shifter.

I saw a news feature that showed that F1 racers use clutchless serial gearboxes, shifted by paddles on the steering wheel.

So, yeah, I don't feel bad not having learned manual.

I used to love the look of Porsche Targa. I think the Modena is has been my favorite for a long time. I like the intakes, reminiscent of fighter planes, such as the F-16.

I was hoping for an epic clash, shark-vs.-dolphins. :-(

Dolphins:
"Gawwwd, he's so slooow. Why are we -doing- this??"
"I kinda feel sorry for him."
"I've seen faster ice chunks."
"That's what I mean."

Shark:
"I was just looking! Sometimes I just look -- OKAY?"

There's a web page out there wherein an internist has done the math, spreading out the income over the average debt load and residency hours (usually reaching 60-80 hours per week) as well as the first years of practice, and comes up with an hourly rate that is little more than that of a high school teacher (something like $36/hour). Then the comments get pretty nasty, so I'm not in the mood to find the page.

I remember going to a derma office and never meeting the doctor. I was treated by one physician assistant, then I followed up with another P.A. in the same office who said that my skin looked much improved. PA #2 was meeting me for the first time.

Always? You're absolutely sure? It was a long time ago for me (about 20 yrs ago), but in the college applications, I don't remember any wording to that effect. (I applied to a few state schools and a few 'name' schools.) I applied to the Johns, which I do remember did not require test scores but asked for 3 essays.

If you put up a forest of wind turbines, both to dampen a burgeoning storm and to harness the energy, could that be more useful? Huh, science guy?

Do we really need more walls? Shouldn't we be tearing them down? (Couldn't find the exact quote from "WKRP in Cincinnati".)

Perhaps, then, the average is 1 per room. I see no problem. ;-)

Seriously, though, do they have to stay in the village? I'd try to gain quarters at a farm, and even offer to do chores. Alternatively, if the water is bad in the entire region, I'd organize my own Five Rings Athletic Games, in the U.S.

What if the artist's concept was "multi-level bunk bed" and s/he decided that s/he wouldn't label it, just to see if anyone "got it".

(Too many quotation marks? How about "valued" at $10M? Don't worry, it's not part of my "argument".)

LOL: Americans comment on calls for Non-Americans' opinions!

I am part Filipino. In the Philippines, young women wear their hair plainly: above-the-shoulder to just longer than shoulder-length, straight and most often hooked behind the ear. Clothes, while Westernized, are more conservative. Fil-Ams gals tie their hair in perky pony tails and dress sporty-sophisticated ("city"?). Backpacks, yes, especially the club type. There are fewer differences between Fil and Fil-Am boys/young men: look for U.S. university and pro sports team tee-shirts and baseball caps on Fil-Ams. Lakers gear (and whichever b-ball team is currently hot) may be misleading. Baseball and (Am.) football team apparel indicate American.
