I just saw an interesting meeting I did not know about, that George Patton and Douglas MacArthur met on the battlefield in France during WW1. THey never paired up, but both were huge figures in WW2.

Reminds me of going on a night patrol. We'd put black on our faces. The Black guys in the platoon wondered why they had to---it helped reduce any glare.

Mrs.O who is gong on age 86 has a friend back in Canada that she has known since she was about 8. The still communicate and we usually visit her every year. That's pretty cool.

My favorite ocean going accident is the cargo container of rubber/plastic ducks from China that got dumped and released its cargo inot the Pacific. Oceanographers studying ocean currents used them to chart currents. They pretty much showed up all over the world at one time or another.

Supposedly my great grandfather lost his job with the post office during WW1 because of his German name and ancestry. Alos, during WW2 there was some thought about detaining or at least monitoring people of German and Italian ancestry. It was never done probably because of the numbers involved. The poor Japanese folks were too easy a target. What was done to them was certaily wrong.

The yellow and black ones here in SW FL can be aggressive too. Once I was mowing our yard--did.not know a next was in one of our palms. Apparently they didn't like the noise and attacked me---I began running to get away. Mrs. O saw me and wondered why. I got stung several times and my hand was swollen like a balloon. Hornets stingers have no barbs like a honeybee and can sting you several times---OUCH.

The white-faced ground hornets I encountered in the forest in the Cascades of Washington are nasty devils. When you walk a trail you may end up running for your life (figure of speech). A very agressive insect.

Love train travel since I was a kid. These days it is the Amtrak Auto-Train. When I was a kid I wondered what would happen if while standing in the aisle and I jumped up---would the train go under me? Of course it was my first lesson about momentum.
