i should've guessed it would be another political campaign. can NOBODY make a commercial around the elections that have nothing to do with the elections? anyone?
nevertheless, it was cool to see the "today" version of the wazzup commercial. i even liked the global warming outside. that made me laugh.
don't like the political posts? don't read or comment on them! wow, what a profound statement.
we can do one of two things, and i'm pretty sure i know which one is more likely. and that's the sad part.
the first thing we can do is take a deep breath and really think about HOW all this banter is helping us. HOW is arguing the left vs. right point helping us? HOW is sitting behind our computers commenting on blogs helping us? WHY do we continue to bicker back and forth about who is right and who is wrong? WHY is it SOO important for our individual points to be validated when we're going to seek sources that only help our case anyway? now let out your breath and take a step forward. does anything that happened before this moment in time REALLY matter? no, it doesn't. because you can't change anything that happened even two seconds ago. let's move forward. let's forget the physical events of 9/11 but remember those who passed in its wake. let's forget that the entire bush administration has ruined our country but remember what it is that's STILL GOOD in our country, like the freedom to work/eat/breathe anywhere you want (unless you're in prison..). let's forget that wall street has lead us to another 1929 but remember that we are smart people who (through time and honest efforts) can really fix our financial problem.
we can either move forward from today, or we can dwell on how we got here. the sad part is, we will waste MUCH more time, money, and effort just so we can dwell on the events that happened yesterday. we will all see that everyone would rather choose this option rather than the first one. why? because it's easier to complain than it is to do something about it.
you can choose by proving me right, but i STRONGLY encourage you all to prove me wrong.
why would you want to look like you're crying? also, don't some convicts tattoo teardrops on their cheeks to represent their time spent in prison? and two drops if they were incarcerated twice? why would you want to look like a convict? why would you want something hanging from your eyeball all day? and who would this be marketed to? kids at hot topic and teenagers who don't manipulate their parents/teachers enough already?
definitely a sociopath... at his more primal age of 7, he is more prone to acting out and being violent because he doesn't know how else to deal with his inability to empathize. just because he's violent now doesn't mean he will be in the future, as some said he is basically a serial killer in training. actually, 4% of the population is considered sociopathic and the vast majority of them aren't violent at all. this is not to say they would make great neighbors, just that they aren't always raging lunatics. and DEFINITELY not trying to discount this kid's behavior, just saying we may not need to worry THAT much that he's going to grow up a jeffrey dahmer. maybe just the president or the CEO of a fortune 500....
by boyfriend also read a while back that almost 90% of CEOs show symptoms of sociopathy... which really comes to no surprise to me. i mean, just look at the people running this country-- sure would make a LOT of sense, wouldn't it? a $700 billion bailout plan is seen as a GOOD
that was hilarious! i still love the simpsons, even if it has fallen a little ways through the cracks of comedy. i mean, matt groening has been at it for what, fourteen years now? i say 'kudos' for being able to stick with one show for so long. and considering the competition the show now faces (family guy, everything on adult swim, american dad, south park, etc), i have to say the jokes are still rolling pretty well by themselves. no political commentary on my part... it isn't worth talking about anymore.
it's crazy how much peoples' faces change when they lose significant amounts of weight.. they almost look like entirely different people. i like to watch the 'biggest loser' sometimes JUST to see how much the people change, and it is absolutely amazing.
good for them for taking a hint and doing something that only benefits their lives.
@courtc777-- i can only imagine spoken-word MSI lyrics. ellen degeres said the lyrics of her first known-by-heart song by salt-n-peppa on one of her comedy DVDs and it's HILARIOUS because it doesn't make any sense, yet, it's probably the most known salt-n-peppa song out there.
we can solve so many problems like this with some simple solutions. beside the ways laid out in the article presented by ken, why not try these things as well:
to combat the issue of wasting water, why not collect it, filter it, and re-use it for future car washing in the same location?
to combat the issue of hazardous cleaners running off into rivers and such, why not use biodegradable soaps and cleaners that are safe for the environment?
to combat the issue of using coal/oil to power the carwash, why not install solar panels on the roof?
we are so smart, yet, play dumb when it comes to treating our planet the way it needs to be treated. didn't we come from the earth? how is it so hard for us to nurture it the same way it nurtured us? the "big" companies of the world need to get on the bandwagon because there is only so much we can do individually. large companies receive government grants all the time to expand their business, why not use them on renewable energy sources and make human pollution a thing of the past? yes, i understand it is impossible to get rid of ALL human pollution, hell even cows contribute a large portion of pollution to the air and they don't have big sexy brains like we do.
"Where was our governments help when many small businesses were failing because of bigger stores/corporations moving into their territory?"
the government was handing them subsidies.
"A May 2004 study by the Washington, DC-based Good Jobs First titled "Shopping for Subsidies: How Wal-Mart Uses Taxpayer Money to Finance Its Never Ending Growth," found that the company has siphoned more than $1 billion in economic development subsidies from state and local governments across the country."
and
"...the Walton Family devotes a significant portion of its holdings to boosting conservative political candidates and a conservative social agenda centered on the privatization of public education."
(here is the article i found this in: http://www.mediatransparency.org/storyprinterfriendly.php?storyID=88)
@notfromconcentrate: i second that position.
what i find ironic about this whole thing is that they have been trying for over a week now to convince the american people that this "rescue plan" will give the economy the boost it needs to get out of the weeds, and are basically asking for us to support their spending of our dollars... if they had no problem with spending $7 trillion of our dollars on the war and such without our consent, why do they need our permission to spend another $700 billion?
yunno, i'm sure there are some people in this forum who couldn't pass it. you guys aren't superior to each other, what's the contest? evil and violet have nothing better to do than argue with each other about who's political views are more correct... and others just ignore the blabber and make silly, fun comments worth reading and expanding upon. i have nothing against you guys (evil and violet) and i don't think either of you are correct on the basic fact that arguing your political stance is not something new to this election. keep it up, you'll get nowhere. and it's not a "left" thing (jean) to not understand what legal immigration is... it's usually an ignorance thing. has nothing to do with what "side" you tend to position yourself, although most people tend to gravitate towards one side or the other so they can blame the other side for all the problems. eh, i suppose it's human nature to be filled with unwarranted pride.
not saying there aren't REAL people out there who know what they're talking about, and not saying i'm any better than most people. just saying it's pointless to argue these subjects because really, where does it get us? not like our opinions matter anyway. the government has been trying for a week now to convince us that a $700billion bailout bill is necessary to "save" the economy. they have even changed the verbiage to make it sound like we would be rejecting a good idea: they call it the "rescue plan" now. just by changing it from 'bailout' to 'rescue' they are manipulating us. they had no problem with spending trillions without our consent, why do they need it to spend another $700 billion if they're gonna push it until it passes anyway? and BOTH SIDES agree to it, so who's the blame on this one?
david b-- you're right, and i would attribute that to the feminist movement. a lot of feminists think women deserve better treatment than men because of the damage done in the past, which is an exact contradiction to their cause. then again, you're putting all the blame on women, and relationships take TWO people to make it work. if you allow your spouse to walk all over you, it isn't just their fault for taking you for granted; it is also your fault for letting them. weak men seek women with strong personalities, and vice-versa. if you have a strong personality and are with someone also with a strong personality, there is likely going to be a power struggle and it is 100% up to you whether you want to put up with it. if you feel immasculated, you have every right to get out of the relationship and find a dumb bimbo to walk all over. or you can just suck it up and work on the existing relationship.
nevertheless, it was cool to see the "today" version of the wazzup commercial. i even liked the global warming outside. that made me laugh.
great mash-up! never would have thought to associate those two movies.

wow.. a complete switch of topics. sorry, fellas.
