This used to be normal. Go back a few generations in your family tree, and you'll see that many times the oldest children were already married and having babies before Mom was finished producing their siblings. That is, if Mom hadn't died during or shortly after childbirth by then. #birthcontrolFTW
I threatened my kids that I would go as Picard that year, but it was too cold for the bare head. And, as you say, the exhaustion. Here's hoping we never have the opportunity again!
Once when I took my much-younger children to visit friends in a foreign country, we discovered that the doorbells there are often approximately 6' high. They could run all the way there, but then they had to sit and wait for an adult to come to actually ring the bell. Just a thought.
Perhaps the oldest plot device in the world: strangers brought together to go on a journey. It has a classic pedigree, with a modern twist. What's not to love?
As a child I learned to make "shadow boxes" which looked like this: shoe box lined in black construction paper, many colors of sewing thread, create your lines with small needle holes at regular spacing on the outside of the box and then sew the threads through.
Made by someone who has never seen what a toddler has to do to poop while wearing a onesie like this: take it off entirely, or at least down to the ankles.
It's true that Christians appropriate Jewish text when it suits them and ignore Jewish text when it suits them, so members of most Christian sects (but not all) believe they have the right to eat shrimp but not engage in other activities prohibited in the same section of the book. Seems like a very appropriate hypocrisy to be ridiculing.
All TV programming did not immediately go to non-stop news coverage. In our city, the local PBS channel ran a banner periodically to explain to parents that they were running only children's programming all day, not just in the morning, and would not start news programming until 6:00pm. For those of us whose children were home-bound that day while we were frantically trying to reach family members and keep up with the news (while trying to keep from terrifying the kids), it was the most thoughtful thing they could have done.
Mitochondrial haplogroups remain unchanged for thousands of years...sometimes even tens of thousands of years. In fact, T1 is about 22,000 years old, and has been in Europe all that time, including in Britain. It's not one of the more common haplogroups for Ashkenazis, either. This is not real proof yet.
How many classes does she teach each term? How many committees is she required to be part of? How many student theses does she have to advise on each year? What level of publishing and/or research is required for her contract to be renewed?
The idea that teachers spend 45 minutes in a class and then sit around eating bonbons the rest of the time is not only wrong, it's damaging to our future generations.
How private are the bathroom stalls at your work?
