I was doing sound for a band during the runup to the final episode. We had a gig playing at Western Kentucky University that night and at the time we only knew one guy with a VCR. Yeah, we were poor. So my buddy taped the show and we all got together later to watch it.

If you've never read the book you should seek it out. Watch the movie too. That's how M*A*S*H should be remembered. Not Alan Alda's preachy, maudlin take on the tale. And I can't stand to watch any episode with Mike Farrell in it. He has turned into an insufferable A-hole in his dotage.
