I was snorkeling at tunnels beach on Kauai (in Hawaii) with my wife and three sons. A newlywed man surfaced next to me as I was clearing my mask. He yelled at his wife to come as his wedding ring had just slipped off his finger. At tunnels, the reef is very irregular. In some places the reef is just inches under the water. Right next to that spot, it will be 20 feet or more. There are also lots of nooks and crannies. Easy places for a ring to get lost. I put my mask back on, popped my head under the water, and just beneath my feet was his ring, sitting right on top of a dome of coral about 5 feet around. It was 20-30 feet deep all the way around. I grabbed the ring and handed it to him. There was one grateful guy. I could imagine how mad his new wife would have been had he lost his ring on his honeymoon!
