I cannot groan any louder at this never ending stream of "creators" seeking publicity by obsequious means. Simply google image search for fantasy novel covers and you'll see a wide variety of depictions of men and women in various equivalent poses. Furthermore - examine this old web page. http://www.orbitbooks.net/2010/08/17/the-chart-of-fantasy-art-part-2-urban-fantasy/ now please, self-publicists of the Internet, when drawing attention to an issue please make sure it is actually on the rise. You are hindering the cause you think you help by stirring dying embers.
The whole point of "if a tree falls and no-one is there to hear it..." is to encourage people to think about the listeners role in sound. Where sound is the reception of moving air by a human ear. Moving air alone is not sound, at least that's the intent of the phrase. The whole point of it is to get you to understand your own relationship to your sense stimuli, not passive but active. Putting a recording device there still counts as "human is listening". For the purposes of the thought experiment. I hope this experimenter is a troll, otherwise (s)he is not too bright.
I was joking about it being southern US, the joke being that it's not really a very good copy of a north London accent. I'm sure Anthony Head has one, just that Spike does not.
Of course, I know to American audiences it works just fine. We like hearing these funny weird voices representing an 'English accent', it's funny.
I am totally aware that British people attempting American accents are just as bad, and often much much worse. I have an idea that Hugh Laurie's "American" accent in Stewart Little would be a nice parallel.
I'm in the UK We don't have any coffe called "taster's choice". We also don't have an accent like Spike's. I assume that's meant to be an English accent? Or am I wrong there. Sounds more like southern US than anything I've ever heard here.
It also looks like it's lost some weight, has it been on a diet? I love what it has done with those craters.
