Agreed with Small, the bulk of the article's research was regarding Pauling. The vitamin side of the article was just rubbish. Case in point, the article states that there are "at least 15 studies have now shown that vitamin C doesn't treat the common cold," while a whole thirty seconds of Googling shows over twenty accredited studies (not that the Atlantic cited anything) that contradict it. Not to mention that if you look at an average person's diet, they're not getting anywhere close to the proper amounts of fruits/vegetables and healthy fatty acids.
