The problem with British diet is not choosing some healthier alternatives.
It is the (modern) British diet itself which is the real problem.

This man wants the sentence beeing executed (prison, no death penalty in Europe).
This man wants justice, not vengeance.

To all of those claiming that they would have killed the convicted murderer: morally, he is right, and you are wrong.

Well, I can't find the references again, but...

People suffering from knee joints problems are advised to wear shoes with compensated sole, to lower the pressure when the foot hit the ground. However, some medics have shown that walking barefoot or with a very thin sole is in fact better in this case of problem.

The reason is that thick and complicated shoes sole insulate the sole of the foot. This part of the body is in fact heavily full of nerves, like the hand. This nerves give information on our position to help us keeping our balance. When you walk barefoot, you have a better sense of the pressure, so you instinctively hit the soil in a lighter way...and so help your joints.

It's not a bad news for shoemakers. They just have to adapt to develop shoes that help you "feel" the ground, while providing good protection against dirt and dangers such as rocks or pins. And fashionable, of course.

Okay...it's pretty, but is it delicious ? I doubt it, reading the recipe, it just seems very basic.

Right, you can admire the feat, it's even a kind of trend to cook nice looking cakes, nowadays. But I would really prefer the opposite for my birthday: a plain looking cake, but with elaborate and rich taste and texture. Real pastry and not just fancy coloured sweet stuff (food colouring is a weapon of deception and should be BANNED).

Mytake> considering the hilarity of the audience, I think this interpretation is a success.

This composition is ironic, so it gains a lot being interpreted with a straight face (even if it's difficult, considering the second boy's smirk and the gesture of the pianist). What's the point of making it a goofy show ? Would you like to see them wearing fake tails and pointed hears ?
And yes, it's earnest. Considering the technicality of the performance, it's normal, I think?

EB and Ted> Yeah guys, I am just a granola eating hippie... yap yap yap

Sorry guys, but I am forced to share the same space than you. You might like to live in a country-sized shopping mall, but I don't (and I am not the only one).

"one dimensional, greedy monsters, and that is not the case". Yes, it is more or less the case. We are not talking about your local burger shop, but of a giant international company. Its purpose is to expand, it's part of the goal of a corporation (they are designed like this). At one point, the only way to expand more is to destroy existing business and cultural habits, like an invasive weed. And convincing people to consume their product, especially "vulnerable" people like kids. Remember when tobaccos companies convinced your parents that smoking was cool and even healthy ?

So guys, would you let me disagree with this goal ? I am not ashamed of making money, but not at all cost. It's called moral, something not very trendy, I know. The kind of stuff that is lost inside the mechanisms of big organisations. No conspiracy, just basic social mechanisms. That's why we can change our governments by voting.

You don't mind with their advertisement, but if it was some message from the state, I am sure you would call that propaganda.
Corporations are not your friends, it's not free competition in a free market, as they tend to twist the market to their own advantage.
Corporations have to be monitored.

Evilbeagle> Why not ? Because it's part of a propaganda campaign about "goodwill" from private companies.

Private companies seek to make money. Period.
So this ridiculous advertisement campaign is just a way to fix their bad reputation.
Without solving the problem: that they sell crappy and unhealthy food, bad for you arteries and the environment. And that they are a giant ubiquitous corporation invading every corner of the world with their cloned, whimsical food menu.

Indirectly, it's a way of convincing people that they are benevolent (and not the state).
At least, privatizing the roads and make people pay a toll would be more honest.

I know that people are not that naive, but it's the accumulation of small little things like this that make a difference.

Hey, it's not a conspiracy. Just basic (and egoist) economical reasoning from 'Yum! Brands' executives.

And no, I am not vegan at all.

Baaaaaad idea.
If there is not enough public found to fix the roads, that just means that the tax are too low, or badly managed, or both.
I am sick of living in a country-sized shopping mall, down with these behemoth chains.

Sorry, but this is completely ridiculous.

Ok, the Grapple case is already debunked.

Colourful carrots is normal, orange carrots are only the ones produced and sold in industrial scale (a bit like yellow maize, vs the white, blue, red...).
Plum and Apricots are related, so the Pluot is not a weird feat. It isn't even a GMO, just a hybrid.
The Tangelo case is even worse: Citrus easily hybridize between each others, even in wilderness. The Tangelo is just a commercially interesting hybrid. Even the Grapefruit is a hybrid.

It's almost complete bullshit, because too simplistic.

For example: it doesn't ask you how often you eat meat.

I like my beef meat medium rare, and enjoy time to time raw beef meat (tartare or carpaccio). If carefully chosen, or in a proper restaurant, the chance to get a tapeworm is extremely close to 0 in developed countries (at least, in western Europe). Pork is a more serious issue, it has to be eaten well cooked. Anyway, raw pork is disgusting.

Anyway, tapeworm infestation is very rare in developed countries, and is very easy to cure.

In any other developed country other than USA, this man would have at least the minimum free public health insurance. I am happy that this man could have a fresh new start in his life, but this tear-jerking story sound too much as a corporate add.

I still despise Starbucks for invading every cities and spreading its soulless, mediocre and carbon-copy shops.

For the tipping issue:
In France, service is ALWAYS comprised in the bill (15%), in bars, cafés and restaurants. Tipping is so only when you feel like, and often only a small amount (it's all extra in the waiter's pocket, who already has a decent (albeit not huge...) salary with social security and retirement plan).

So, abroad, French people don't realize immediately that waiters live in fact from tipping.
