to be fair, these look like these are all done by the same 4 or 5 designers...so it looks like it was just a bad year for a couple incompetent people

While more tasty I don't see this as much a solution...I already have a problem eating through my pencils and (as a licorice lover) I just see this expediting the demise of my drawing/writing tools.
