In Ecuador they use U.S. dollars (they phased out the sucre a couple years ago) and the one-dollar coins are EVERYWHERE. It's actually really rare to find a $1 bill.

Did anyone catch that Miss Hawaii says "creationatism?" I had to put my head on the desk for a second.

@Red Bunny: both male and female mosquitos are nectar-eaters, and polinate plants. It just so happens that the female sucks blood to get nutrients necessary to develop eggs. So while my knee-jerk reaction is to agree with you, we sorta need mosquitos. Darn.

Sounds like my students got this memo months ago... and are fully compliant.

I can see the Italian. If they're anything like my family, the shouting is what gave it away.

Are we sure that picture at the end isn't from the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland? That's what it looks like to me...

In CA we always joke that we should be our own country, but I don't think anyone has ever done anything about it. But I might be wrong...

I LOVE this place! I spent a summer in Buenos Aires and I must have gone at least once a week just to hang out. And if I recall correctly, I think Recoleta is really close, so it's a nice place for a break after roaming one of the most gorgeous cemetaries on the continent :)

ah, makes me think of my undergrad days... only for me it wasn't a coffee maker, it was a rice cooker. I did EVERYTHING with my rice cooker!

Is it bad to say I actually like the idea of dust mop slippers? I mopped my floor with sponges tied to my shoes one time in grad school because I didn't have money to go buy a mop.

tinspoons, I agree 100% with the gov subsidies, but I will say that the pattern is usually that there are a lot of educated people who have degrees and not enough jobs suited to their educations, so you get a lot of people with law degrees driving taxies, and STILL no equality. At least, that's how I've seen it in the other countries I've visited, I'm no expert by any means.
