Colleges of today are the same as the guilds of yesterday. Colleges have a monopoly on how knowledge can be "legitimately" obtained. On-the-job training used to be sufficient in many professions, now you can't get the job even if you are qualified, unless you can prove you got the knowledge by the proper means (a degree from an accredited college). It's bogus, man.
Logical conclusions stemming from PETA's position:
1) Seeing-eye dogs should be illegal.
2) If animals are protected by the Constitution, then when a cougar kills a deer, the cougar should get some hard time for the murder (perhaps behind bars in a zoo?).
3) If someone wants to build a new house, sorry, ants and a lot of other creatures already inhabit that land. They must willingly relocate.
4) If someone gets head lice, well, learn to live with them. The human noggin is their natural habitat.
"Get over it. Jeez, people, discrimination is everywhere, except that nobody discrimiates against people who really are good at what they do."
You are kidding, right? Your comment is historically ignorant on an inexplicable scale and shows absolutely no empathy for those who have and still do experience hardship due to discrimination.
"Do your work and shut up."
Yeah, pity you can't go back in time to explain to the likes of Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and a host of other social reformers how badly they are wasting their time by trying to make things fair for everyone.
Chuck, the world is highly overpopulated. People who choose not to have children are doing a great service to the rest of humanity. Lets not pretend that people who have children are saving the planet.
It could be better and it could be, and has been, much worse for many generations. On the bright side, there are still some reasonably priced vocational programs and community colleges. With a lot of sacrifice--living as cheaply as possible while paying for training as you can, a lot of people will be able to get better jobs in a few years. Sucks that greed has made their load heavier than it should be.
For anyone who thinks this bathroom is disgusting: never try to use a truck stop or convenience store bathroom in the South. Just pee on the ground and be happy to be alive.
