Also @ted, you shouldn't pick up an adult cat that way, but having them just lie on the table like that is fine. Picking them up puts all their body weight against the clip and could result in their skin separating from the connective tissue underneath.
Those of you who wouldn't go to a vet who does this need to either educate yourselves better, or trust those who are educated better (i.e. the vet). The veterinary magazine DVM360 reported on this method (called "clipnosis"), and says "No cats exhibited physical changes or behavior suggestive of pain or stress." Many cats are too stressed by being in a strange situation to tolerate being examined, having their nails trimmed, or getting blood drawn. This is safer for the people working on your cat and LESS stressful for your cat. Win-win.
Should have had a collar at the very least, and I'm surprised a "stud" is not microchipped but I don't know NZ's customs. But as the previous commenters already mentioned, if it was such a valuable cat, keep it indoors. Unneutered cats should not be roaming.
Interesting. Just yesterday I was trying to picture a map like this, but somehow excluding all the "game only" friends. I'm "friends" with a couple hundred people around the world for the sole purpose of playing a specific facebook game, and that shouldn't really count as a real connection. I'm more curious how connected people really are.
I'm from Georgia, so I have to say that if you find yourself anywhere near Atlanta, you NEED to see this aquarium. It is absolutely amazing! I am saving up to go diving with the whale sharks.
This is pretty neat! Probably overkill for simple cuts, but great in hospitals. If you can dress the wound in a sterile environment, limiting the frequency you need to check on the wound could decrease hospital-acquired infections like MRSA.
"a German study found that it can help decrease the number of new fat cells you develop while helping you burn off the existing fat cells in your body."
Either worded very poorly or completely false. Once you are an adult, you DO NOT EVER make more fat cells or lose any fat cells (without liposuction). The cells only shrink or expand as the amount of lipid in them changes.
I have no sympathy.
