Never found your self with a bottle of wine, but no corkscrew to open it ?
Well with this one tool here, this would not be a problem !
As you see this is used to forced the cork, yes but very deep inside the bottle and let flow the delicious liquid out !
I'm guessing they stop production because people realized it was easier and cheaper to carry a corkscrew in their pocket ...
