I realize that this post is 3 years old but I have to comment. Who says the photographer was in Belgium?
Place du Marche, St. Hyacinthe is actually in Quebec, Canada. A quick look at ancestry.com proves Morin was a working photographer in St. Hyacinthe in 1901.
That sort of make all the above speculation.
