His words are inspiring -- adding the song to it, to me, seemed to try to stick a creationist spin to some wonderful, awesome (in the true meaning of the word), mind-blowing scientific truths he spoke of. I mean, really...aren't there a million songs more appropriate than one that starts, "I built a home for me, for you?" (or something to that effect.)
I suppose the kids are outside and all but I'm not sure I buy that it's great that their "imaginative play" is essentially directed by (and almost confined by the structure to) a multi-million dollar grossing movie series and associated toys. (A movie which, by the by, had no good or important or fun parts for girls to play -- granted, assuming the kids were flexible enough, girls could "fan fic" in their own characters -- but I kind of prefer that big, permanent playthings be more neutral.
Of course the "after" picture was helped by a tan, make-up and new hairstyle. The stupid, ubiquitous pursed lip kissy-face pose does makes me worry that this was done more to make her 'look sexy' not to make her feel more confident or less self-conscious (her nose was a tad out of proportion and it wasn't something she'd have 'grown out of'.) The standard that a woman is nothing more than her sex appeal is an old one, but one I'd hoped we were moving past.
Maybe I just don't get it -- so the kids check in via fingerprint for morning roll call (which is essentially no different than taking roll call in morning home room.) How, exactly, does this help keep track of those who sneaked out during the day to skip classes? Unless each and every class has a scanner and it immediately notifies the office if one goes missing between classes, this whole thing makes no sense. (And, truthfully, a plain old fashioned piece of paper (or email, if the teachers have access) could accomplish the same thing.
Studies, or at least reports of studies, like this leave so much unstated. Childcare workers, gardeners and builders also probably suffer less stress than the average desk-job worker. (Since stress is often caused by having responsibility but little direct control of something.)
Actually, it would be pretty cool to lounge in (I had a long sweatshirt hoodie back in college (several million years ago.) BTW I have to say the Neatorama blurb, while clever, is misleading -- I had to click around the site a lot to determine that it was not backless like a snuggie (now that would have been really weird.) And the price? A bit steep for me. I foresee cheap knockoffs galore if this catches on.
I'm thinking he's not smug but just profoundly nauseated by the patterns of his rug and bedspread! Seriously, it's possible that the furnishings are far more expensive than they look (because they look pretty tacky) but I'm not sure any kid would be envious of that room, much less any 9 year old boy!
@Hagan -- Why do resumes need to be scannable? Really? Have you ever hired anyone? It's a huge and time consuming task - and one to be squeezed in amongst the 73,000 others that need to get done. Few people have the time to devote to poring over a single resume/graphic poster.
The real faux pas (in job searching or anything else) is that "it's not all about you" -- you have to think about the needs and desires of the recipient of your actions. Yes, these resumes/CVs would stand out -- so would an interviewee dressed in a neon green suit with an orange tie. Memorable but not always in a good way. Even in a creative industry, I think this would be something to supplement, not replace, an easier to read, traditional format.

It's a cute, informative chart -- and as the mom of a ten year old girl with puberty on the horizon, might be a good one to get!
