Yeah, about that... According to $4 million of actual research by Don Tapscott, this generation is the "smartest, most ethical, civically engaged and politically active in history... and they just elected their first president."

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today, for certainly all youth are reckless beyond words... When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise [disrespectful] and impatient of restraint." -- Hesiod, 8th century BC

Remember that dolphins have echolocation as a primary sense, so their perception of the world is something not unlike an x-ray scan. In that modality, we probably seem strangely dolphin-like to them.

Tim: Quoting a comedian who just died is pretty much summing up his life's work. If it's not accurate, that absolutely needed to be pointed out right the hell here and now. I mean, when else?

Crispin: Thanks for the linkage.

My Heroes Generally: Dammit people, stop dying.

bean: It's the chromosomes that bother you. Riiight. And in twenty years, when revolutionary gene therapy is available for $20 from the local pharmacy, you'll claim what? Atomic level maleness due to quantum entanglement with the time of their birth?

someguy: Presumably, you'd say that changing a woman's body doesn't make her a man either, right? Well, what if something screws up, partial changes happen naturally in the womb, and a surgeon 'fixes' things in the wrong direction immediately after birth?

Gender is wired into the brain, biology isn't perfect. Of course not everyone gets the matching body. A little empathy?

On that note, why does this article repeatedly refer to someone who has declared themselves a woman as 'he'?

April, if you think this is a dumb law, and I would agree with that, then you should applaud breaking it. Breaking them is what you're supposed to do with dumb laws, loudly and publically. It's called civil disobedience, and is a cornerstone of healthy democracy. You think Rosa Parks should have obeyed the law?

This is being massively misinterpreted, there's no instantaneous communication going on here, just plain old lightspeed lasers. Anton and his team are working on quantum cryptography. Quantum entangled communication lasers that should be immune to eavesdropping, as it is theoretically impossible to intercept the beam without breaking the entanglement.

Nah, there'd be no point to that. You can't walk a mile in any British town without running into one of these shops. I suspect it's a tradition, or an old charter, or something.

You know the best way to raise children so they -are- sex-obsessed maniacs? Teach them that it's Wrong.

As evidence, I refer you to pretty much anyone brought up in a convent.
