There are no management techniques or systems (or whatever you want to call them) that have proven to work (or increase productivity) under proper scientific scrutiny. (In stark contrast to what every management guru would want you to believe of course.)
People don't do a certain job because they are interested in "productivity", they do a certain job because they want to do a good job.
I never click on bit.ly links. Or any other shortened urls.
They keep telling us to be careful on the internet, but in the mean time they expect us to go somewhere totally blind and hope we don't end up somewhere nasty. Absurd.
Jesus Christ man, what's wrong with trying to make the place look a bit more pretty? You say the same thing about somebody with a plant in the office or home?
If the opposite of hipsters is you, I'm choosing hipsters.
The way things work today: it does not pay to make products that are long lasting. The capitalistic system in place today is based on growth. (Never mind that infinite growth is impossible in a system with limited resources.) Which means you need to keep selling and selling and selling. So you get a society obsessed with consumerism. People CAMPING in front of an Apple store to buy some gadget that will be outdated by the time they unpack it.
Armchair theory: a society made up entirely of psychopaths wouldn't work: it would self destruct. Psychopaths can only flourish if they have others to exploit. A bit like vampires: they need humans to survive so they can't exterminate them completely.
If you have a group of friends and one of them turns out to be a psychopath who fucks everybody over he will sooner or later be expelled from the group. Extrapolate this to society in general and that's the reason society today is not made up entirely of psychopaths.
Today however we have a problem. Corporations and banks are getting so huge they often have more money and power than whole countries combined, they are ruling the world. And they are run by psychopaths. The psychopaths are winning and we can't get rid of them anymore.
This might self-correct at some point in the future but in the mean time we are all fucked.
No reasonable person sets unreachable goals for himself consciously. If you do set an objectively unreachable goal for yourself it's because you don't realize it's unreachable.
Promoting healthy foods might be more effective, but I like the philosophy behind this.
Everybody is quick to rally behind smoking bans and the like, but it's time people started realizing unhealthy food is not... healthy either. So far they have gotten a totally free reign.

Still a cute video though. ;)
