Did anyone bother to take the quiz on that page? It combines some of the old questions with some of the new.

It was laughably easy, in any case. I got 100%... and I didn't even study. (I'm also not American.)

What gets me is that people focus so much on "global warming" or "climate change", to the extent that if they don't believe it's man-made, then they think they can do whatever the hell they like.

There are other environmental consequences. Too much crap in the air causes health problems (mainly asthma and heart disease), and some people now have to stay indoors on days when the pollution index is high. Chemical fertilizer run-off from fields can cause weird algae growths in the oceans, which can lead to things like swimmer's itch after a swim at the beach. Putting lots of organic material (like food scraps and yard waste) into the landfill can cause excess leachate to get into the groundwater.

In certain areas, being green is cheaper in some ways. Our area has recycling for paper, cans, glass, and some plastics, as well as yard waste. The city will come around and pick up all those things for free. But if you want to toss everything in the garbage, it'll cost you; there's a limit on how many cans of garbage you can put out without having to pay extra.

So I can see why mainly rich people are the "Never Greens". If they're going to throw away money, though, I wish they'd literally do that... instead of spending it on things that don't break down.

This doesn't sound like a very good idea to me. What if some of these old yeasts harbour diseases that the human immune system can no longer fight against? You might even have a strain of yeast that attacks and decimates the natural yeasts in our own systems.

What... were there not already enough types of beer out there?

Okay, Jerse. Whatever. I knew of kids who used to steal stuff from the corner store. None of them grew up to be rapists and murderers.

Stealing Twinkies and setting kittens on fire are two different things. The first might not lead to anything. The second is a huge red flag that something is wrong... what you'd call "the criminal mind".

I'm so glad I don't live in Texas. I'd hate to think what these guys will try to get away with next. Shooting the neighbours' toddler because she decided to pick the flowers in your garden? *shudder*

I heard about this years ago. I remember thinking it was really cool, because it was like what they used on Star Trek: The Next Generation. That should tell you how long this has actually been around...

Needles don't bother me, but I can see how this would be great for children.

*sigh* That's sad. If you really still feel threatened when you're holding a lethal weapon in your hands (against unarmed children), you've got bigger problems than ending up in court.

Are snack foods really that important?
