I don't really understand this fascination with browser speed -- which must take a backseat to the speed of your internet connection, or the speed of the server serving the page, surely?
I'd rather there were browser wars over how little memory the thing used. That would be cool. (Said the guy with 98 tabs open.)
I'm not a fan of the new series. They melodramatic short plots and the overly-manic, 1000-miles-per-hour doctor was fun for a while, but gets repetitive.
Matt Smith is a good actor, but not good enough. When they run the plots that fast, it takes someone like Tenant to actually be able to act and not just say the lines. Plus, under Davies (head of scripts) the plots didn't make much sense. Under Moffat they don't make any sense at all.
Still, they *have* just changed the whole production team. Maybe things will get better.
Point of information: at least in the kid's version of events, she wrote on the desk in water-based marker. In other words, it washed off.
IMO: clearly the school was out of order; this is likely the only way that they (and other schools) will be deterred from this and similar stupidities. I wish them good luck.
If you ask all three guardians "How would chaos answer the question 'is chaos telling the truth today?' ", then you will always get Y, Y, N. N will be the Knave. And this will also tell you which of Ja/Da is yes.
If only you had one more question to ask the Knave which of the other two was Chaos...
Of course you might get lucky and hit an N in the first two Guardians you question; but that's not a solution.
Not that it really matters, but the Beeblebear wasn't exactly an official product. Or at least, it didn't start out that way.
I remember we all followed one woman around at a convention because she had it. It turned out her aunt had made it for her. She was a pretty busy aunt after that convention!
re: Pink Floyd: This also works with any Floyd album taken at random and pretty much any movie taken at random.
The other movie people generally cite is 2001: A Sapce Oddessy.
It's a function of the style of music, plus the way our minds work -- we're basically set up to see correlations and patterns, whether they are there or not.
Which is not to say that it isn't a cool coincidence.
Point of information: Deep Blue did not really beat Kasparof on it's own.
IBM *reprogrammed Deep Blue* between games so that it would not fall for traps Kasparov had set it earlier. In effect, Blue had help from a team of experts.
Kasparov claimed that the programmers were even aiding Blue during games. We can dismiss this as a typical Kasparof ploy -- except perhaps that IBM refused to hand over machine logs, and dismantled Blue very quickly afterwards...

Only one
Works brilliantly! Thank you!
Thanks for the thought but that does not return me to the article I came from, which might not even be on the front page!
Well, yes, you do. "The name you provided belongs to a registered user. Please log in to make your comment."
And when I *do* log in, I end up at your Wordpress admin page, with no easy way to return to the page I wanted to comment on.
I love Neatorama, but I'm given up commenting (I'm making a special effort to tell you this!)
I'd love it if you made the commenting process a bit less painful.

Because of the inevitable head-on collisions, obviously.
