used to pull skin from an animal after is has been caught, and to further this, it was also used in the same way in the process of flaying as torture, except before hand it would have been heated to scalding temperatures

Used to determine the pitch of a boat during a storm to help regulate control, and was usually mounted straight to the wheel.
This has gone out of use since the invention of the gyroscope, and electronic devices that perform the same function.

when the butcher is working, time is money, so he uses the cleaver to slice the meat, and the spike to remover marrow from the bones, and hook the next piece of meat from the main hooks, to avoid having to use another tool.

Also, as this is an antique, with the age being around 200-275 years old, guessing, it was also used as a weapon for pirates, which they would attach to a rope, and use as a grappling hook to board other ships.

As the 1800's approached the hook and cleaver began its use in the torture field, as this became the main method of rural torture in spain, germany, and the netherlands. Though the tiem period moved on this device did not, and its use was stopped in 1834.

The bad thing is that since this one survived it carries the curse of the people who were persecuted at its touch, and their souls were trapped in the blade. Do not touch the blade without gloves, or the curse of the blade will spread, and cause a new plague to blanket the land.

steampunk welding goggles used in the construction of the Hindenburg, and the titanic, these famous goggles worn by John Austrolagos a welder on both doomed vessels. They are now on display at the Smithsonian, in the cursed wing

this is a basic meat tenderizer, and slicing device. the various blades cut the meat so that it can better absorb the marinade, and the cleaver, well, cleaves the meat. the tenderizing blades can be turned then re tightened and used as a tenderizing mallet to further batter the meat
Also a torture weapon in times of desperation, as it would not kill very quickly and delivered excruciating pain
This is not used very often anymore due to the fact that most meat is pre tenderized or/and raised to be tender.

there was another one to tantalize, from the man named Tantalus who was tortured in the fields of punishment, in a pool of water that went up to his chest, and with a fruit tree above him. when he reached for the water, or tried to eat the fruit, the fruit shriveled, and the water dried up, therefore we get the word tantalize, which means to tempt but tortuously never allow the temptation to be fulfilled

this is used for hanging meat in a butcher shop. This was also used as a torture implement by the Spanish inquisition in small towns where other torture implements were not available. the spike at the top would dig into the neck, and the ones on the sides and between each section would grab around each vertebra and in between them. this would then be hooked to a pulley and pulled, slowly ripping out the spine, and separating the vertebra. This was also slow and painful method of execution, as if the nerves were still connected during the pulling process, they would feel every tug and snap, as the blood poured from there bodies and their vertebra fell apart. Also just so you know the head survives for four minutes after being separated from the body, so the spines removal would not cause instant death, as was hoped for in those days.

heated and twisted metal was used to make this traditional parish staff from the middle ages the chains at the top were decorative and symbolized man's link to god. the twisted metal represented the long and winding path that we took away from god and then how we returned to him
