But, on the whole, you get used to all of these things. The second time they happen you're like "Ok, how do we restore normalcy as quickly as possible." and turn into a cold logic machine that just happens to be dealing with a hot illogical mass of infancy as part of the things that need to be juggled to restore normalcy.

You also find that you don't panic nearly as much as you think you will the first time any of this stuff happens. I will say that I was significantly more panicked recently when for the first time our two year old darted off in a place with very curvy walls and when we got around the corner she had completely disappeared. I think that makes everything else here by comparison seem pretty tame on the response scale.

Agree with comments about this being a rather stale issue at this point. People use what they are used to and only break their old habits when they are trying to change something else in their lives, not their computers.

I guess the other thing I might say is "Welcome to being a regular 'Merican! Price trumps ALL!"

Ditto everyone who is wondering why the prof didn't have his ten years worth of data backed up. Brilliant. The thief should have wiped it and moved on. I'm also pretty sure this was an inside job as well.

I broke into uncontrollable laughter as the last scene hit the screen of the various swaps because I knew, KNEW that it was going to be mathematically correct if you stopped it and figured it out because I have watched all of the Futurama DVDs and their commentary so much. That fact that basically he proved a set theory theorem to write an episode of Futurama just makes Futurama probably the single nerdiest television show in history... thus far. :)

I've seen plenty of toilets and showers as offshoots of kitchen in older homes. Victorians build in the early 20th century in San Francisco that were subsequently "remodeled" in the 50s to the 70s are notorious for this addition. There was a house across the street from our apartment building that was built in 1904 and the kitchen had an offshoot shower-toilet area.

I can't believer no comments on this yet. It's a stunning video of these guys surfing in the most brutal possible temperature environment they could actually surf in. I thought it was mesmerizing.
