Vonskippy, your argument has little to do with diamonds themselves and the diamond industry. Yes, some women get obsessed about the ring, or view marriage as a band-aid, but if you're going for the diamond alone you're either going for the $$ or for the status of being married, and that is a much, much bigger factor in divorces than the mere presence of a stone will ever be.
My fiance is honest too. He's always nice about it, but I love that he's straightforward. Sometimes he's a bit harsh, but the honesty keeps us close, and I always appreciate it.
Considering the amount of intimacy that goes into a marriage (or is supposed to), being honest should not be that unusual.
Several years ago they tried to petition to have the name changed of a town near me-Fishkill, NY. If I remember correctly, "kill" means "by the river," and Fishkill happens to be on the Hudson. What idiocy. Their money could go towards much, much more useful things than attempting to change names.
As an English major, I'm embarrassed to admit that I never read....well, a lot of the "classics." Some classics I think are brilliant and fun (Count of Monte Cristo, anyone?) and others are just ungodly boring. Spark Notes summaries got me through many of my basic courses because I just could not get myself to read them and stay awake.
That makes me die a little on the inside. But then again, I was an English major and am still a minor grammar Nazi (although I definitely have my share of typos).
I think it definitely depends what kind of job you're going for. I've been involved in the hiring process to replace three assistants who got promoted, and the cleaner and more readable the resume, the more likely we'd call them in. Anything too fancy would be obnoxious and show-y. But for higher positions....maybe?
Space Cases anyone? Completely forgot about that show until I saw Serenity.....
I miss the old Nick. I was ADDICTED to Nick at Nite, though. Ah, when tv after 8pm was innocent....Mary Tyler Moore, why did you leave us?
Roundhouse was also a favorite. It seems to be much more obscure than a lot of the others, because most people I mention it to give me a puzzled stare.
Bannerman's Island! I'm from the Hudson Valley and you can see it from all of the spots overlooking the river. I moved from home a few years ago, but it's still my favorite site. Never actually been there since it's sinking (hence the little tourism and hardhats), but it's such a gorgeous site, sitting in the middle of the river between two mountains!
Really, if you had the misfortune of marrying your twin, would you want the world to know who you are? This could be true for all we know, because I'm fairly sure no one would want to come forth and confirm it.
"Ugh, this Flavia coffee really IS terrible. Fine, fine, Maryann can go back to brewing coffee in that old, decrepit chamber pot we call a Mr Coffee....."
I went to New Zealand a few years ago and saw some enthusiastic rugby fans do it in a bar. Very, very cool. New Zealand as a whole was an amazing, beautiful country, and Maori culture is just fantastic.....
I'm a know I'm a grammar nazi, but "here's where he's at" is horrible, horrible grammar.....it should be "here's where he is" or "this is where he is." I'd like to think I can expect more from an intelligent website.
It's made by the Unemployed Philosopher's Guild. They make some great stuff (finger puppet/magnet Shakespeare? So cool....). They have a similar mug called "Disappearing Civil Liberties." Check them out, philosophersguild.com.

Sorry, got nostalgic....
