I've had trouble with this because of where I was raised. In school we would use "like" as a replacement for "um" but also to use when describing what someone else had said "she was like...". I think it is one of those things that turn into habit and are difficult to get rid of like (yea, it's proper here) saying "y'all" "you's" "dude" etc. That's how language develops and changes over time. It might not be proper but at least it's better than saying "OMG" and "BRB".
whenver I think about colonizing space I think about how often our structures fail because of faulty engineering. If projecting spacial body hits a space station and creates a hole, everyone will die from the vacuum of space.
