Racism only applies to people of northern European decent who live in the United States. Furthermore, it is only morally outrageous if the perpetrator has conservative leanings.
@Daniel Kim: I agree. I'm a huge booster for our guys in green, but I think they'd be out matched once the modern tech gave out. A Legionaire spent years training with sword and shield while the Marines, for all their teamwork and courage, would be starting fresh and with virtually no experienced trainers.
It'd be a slaughter before the tech gave out, though. A phalanx is a mother beautiful target for artillery and machine guns.
"Cuba got by without tourism for nearly 30 years"? Travel was only restricted from the U.S. Europeans and Asian, and people from the Middle East could go anytime they wanted to. Cuba was NOT without tourism.
They were without U.S. tourism. The author even says as much elsewhere in the article.
A simple glance at Wikipedia would have told you that The Doctor can only regenerate 12 times. Is there some sort of anti-research cult at Neatorama? I know the Church of Make-Stuff-Up-To-Justify-Opinion is still active, so perhaps this is a new branch.
Dysko Stu: I am saying that almost everything in modern life has been found, by one group or another, to cause cancer. The air we all breath, the water from the tap (or plastic bottle), the preservatives in food, cleaning products, etc, etc, ad nauseam. Yet people continue to life and aren't dropping like flies. This is just more of the same.
Further, my comment draws attention to the sensationalist, over-hyped, scare stories that crop up every few months in the 'lastest thing that will kill everyone in our homes that we never knew about, film at 11' media.
Lastly, thanks for responding to me instead of Deary who specifically mentions the grinding of axes being the reason for this research in the first place.
Alex: Equating these dryer sheets with a fully exposed core of a nuclear reactor? Really? Very nice why of disputing my comment about this being FUD.
How about addressing Lorijellybean's criticism? I understand you are merely a linker who writes a few words of description about other people's work, but surely you must see the validity to her comment. (I'll beat you to the punch and admit that a forum commenter is even lower on the scale than a linker, we have nothing better to do and we have axe's to grind, as Dysko Stu says above.)
Christine: Because not everyone is you and you are not the center of the Universe.
Lorijellybean and Deary: +1
Twist: What the *bleep* does something being a carcinogen have to do with you being allergic to it? Is your allergy a new form of carcinogen detector?
Alex@Neatorama: Thanks for helping spread the FUD. It warms the bottom of my heart to know that you are here to help disseminate fear into your fellow citizens. Next, I suspect, you'll be warning us all of the deadly dihydromonoxide vapor that is permeating our homes.
How is the first comment even remotely similar to a computer analyzing statistical crime data and predicting the likelihood of crimes in a specific area?
I guess a penguin is "kinda similar" to a pine cone since they are both native to the planet Earth.
This is a case of bloggers creating a rumor just so they can write about debunking it. If there was a single case of a law like this being used to prevent a Sorority, it would have been instant national news and we'd have Gloria Allred banshee screaming from dusk till dawn.
How is this insane, if the people have the money for it? If you make $50K/year and buy your kid an Xbox 360, or if you make $5M/year and buy your kid a diamond studded teddy bear, it still works out to about the same percentage of your income.
It's not "insane", it is merely YOU wanting to do something else with the money and being jealous that you don't have it.
Poor people do more stupid things with their money that the rich, which is one reason why they are poor. You don't see many rich people playing the lottery or collecting beanie babies.
"...venereal diseases (now called STDs)." Really? Wow, thanks for clearing that up.
"Since military men were the target, blame was squarely put on the woman they may encounter." So... A railroad crossing warning sign blames a train for a wreak? No, it merely warns of danger, just like THIS sign simply warns of danger and reminds people to be careful.
It'd be a slaughter before the tech gave out, though. A phalanx is a mother beautiful target for artillery and machine guns.

Use some common sense, people.
