I don't know why this story is posted on Neatorama. At any rate, being a nurse in a city hospital the story, if it's told accurately, sounds shameful. But I suspect there's a lot more to it.
When I was eight or nine, my father took me with him out to a road construction site (he was a tractor salesman). There were several miles of empty highway so he gave me the keys to the car and let me drive around. I was given the power of grown-ups! Driving a car! I was on cloud nine! Up and down the road, I drove all day. I'll never forget the pure joy of that experience. I can still remember my cheeks hurting from smiling. A kid driving a car/a kid with a trusting father.
Thanks, Pope-dude!
