It is crystal clear that all of the posters saying "they should have let her die" have not only never been in this situation, but are probably not even parents.
Five years ago my wife and I spent a LOT of time at the local NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) because our son was born a little early, and was very small (granted, nowhere near this small, but he was 3 lbs and only 5 weeks early, when he should have weighed at least 5 or 6 lbs).
While our son did pass away after 4 months (he had other health problems than just coming early), we wouldn't have traded a single day of it for anything.
Not only that, but we got to know many of the parents of other babies up there, many of which were premature like Kimberley.
There was Jacob, who was born at 1 lb 11 oz and dropped to 1 lb 9 oz before gaining weight. Where is Jacob today? He's five now, and is the delight of his parents.
Then there's Meaghan (who was also born very small - around the 1.5 lb mark). She is almost six now, and while she is blind, is a beautiful girl, and loved by everyone who knows her (especially her parents).
I guarantee that if you were to ask anyone who knows those two kids if they should have just "let them die", the answer would be a resounding (not to mention offended) "NO".
