We use florescent ones now, but we still keep some incandescent on hand for when we go on vacation because only they can dim with the timers we have. Have yet to have to replace a florescent bulb, but the bloody incandescent burn out so often and I get tired of changing them.
I saw the process for making the tyrian purple (royal blue) dye on the show Worst Jobs in History with Tony Robinson. As for pink being mentioned that reminds me of this discussion:
I always had issues with balance, which gradually increases in low light to dark atmospheres where my spatial awareness is thrown right off. I just recently found out it's a genetic trait that runs in my dad's side of the family.
