it's awesome...
and for the record,

butttape:
she's a writer and speaker, not a singer...

so give her props on writing it and forget the singing.

(besides, she sings better than most, and hey... she's doing it.)

for the record i am not against her not wanting kids... my brother doesn't have any and doesn't want any, and it's cool, it suits him and i support that.

but he doesn't look at me like i'm a selfish person and that i'm destroying the planet because i've had his niece and nephew.

although, they do a great job or destroying the living room...

i have no problem with her not wanting to have kids...it's perfectly normal for some.

i only have a problem with her calling me 'SELFISH' for having them.

gee... it's a natural inborn desire (and some would say, 'be fruitful and multiply') to have a child.

oh and SELFISH?

uh, yeah, the hundreds of dollars i spend on my kids teeth, the thousands when i had to put them BOTH in the hospital when they were sick together, not to mention the every day getting up early just to make the breakfast eggos they love (and NOT the plain ones mommy! the choc. chip kind! please!), the waking up in the middle of the night to clean vomit off the beds, and to have 2 inches of sleeping space in my own bed because someone got 'scared', the reading 'goodnight moon' for the 5th time today, and the not going out with my husband all month to save money because i wanted to have a great party for my 7 year old and make her memories wonderful...

yeah, us parents are horribly selfish people. i really should start thinking of others more.

if she truly was that dedicated to being 'green' she'd be out of the limelight and volunteering to teach kids how to keep the earth clean. you know, cause i'm too selfish to do it myself.

1. i'm not the one being childish. i'm not throwing dishware.

2. what?? i don't have to explain anything to you.

3. seriously? no honest, i don't remember... i just woke up here. i've got to stop drinking. ack.

4. um... privacy please. *the utter lack of some people...*

5. ugg. listen, we'll talk about your mother once i'm 'good to the last drop', mmm'k?

regarding the laughing vs. interesting/odd stuff.

none of it's funny, it's bizarre. and if we're all honest, we probably found some humour in there somewhere. humour is one of the ways we deal with grief and emotions. by finding the humour in a situation, people tend to avoid the pain of it. so, yeah, i might have thought, 'dang. sucks to be you.' and i wasn't the first. that doesn't mean it's disrespectful. it only means we're human.

i think it was nice that steve got to do what he loved. i think he was interesting to say the least. i don't like the whole animal planet thing, so i was never that impressed. he knew what the risks were at what he was doing. whatever. as for laughing about any of it, see above. (although, i don't think it was funny. but a standard, 'wow, that sucks.' seems appropriate as i never knew him.)

honestly, i'm just glad i didn't read about the bizarre death of his child as he dangled the baby in front of the jaws of an alligator. defend that.
