Richard Wiseman's book Quirkology had a section about a marked difference between summer and winter kids. I forget the specific advantage- it may have been happiness or at may have been how lucky they felt they were. The advantage went to the summer babies.
Later a similar study was done in the southern hemisphere. Again, the kids born in the warmer months (in this case Dec, Jan, Feb) had the best advantage.
As a December 27th kid, I wonder how I'd have turned out if I made my debut in July?

He reminds me of a house finch who visited my feeders years ago. His upper beak was either undeveloped or damaged, and his lower beak grew out like a sword.
I felt sorry for him at first, until I noticed that no bird dared to squabble with him. He ate as much as he wanted. The other birds had to wait.

I'll call it art. Bad art.

This page suggests the raining-animals-from-waterspouts notion isn't true:

According to Mouse Tales: A Behind the Ears Look at Disneyland, a small but real fire broke out in the fire scene. When disembarking riders informed the cast members, the latter said "Yes, it really does look real," at first. The fire damaged a lamp post and two "pirates" before it was put out. The pirates were replaced (or perhaps repaired- I don't remember) but they thought the burnt lamp post worked nicely in context and left it that way.

Jim Carrol died? Holy crap! The "people who died" list is getting way too long. :(

Something similar happens when I see a gruesome or disturbing picture. I feel the "Yikes!" shock before I can articulate what I'm looking at.

I wish I could do this. I just KNOW it would come in handy sooner or later.

I thought the posing-on-the-engine photos were creepy too.

I grew up near Disneyland too. It was great fun seeing my old stomping grounds being built.

Yep, looks like clumps of annelid worms.
When I worked at a tropical fish shop we'd sell them by the ounce for live food. Rumor was that they were harvested from sewers. They certainly smelled that way.
We stored them in a litter box full of water in a refrigerator. They clumped together into a carpet of sorts, which tightened when disturbed. Part of the day's work included scooping them up with a NyQuil cup into little baggies for sale.
Heaven forbid we'd get a bad batch that died. It smelled even worse and the water turned blood red.

Exhibit "A" on how vulnerable people are to being manipulated into destructive behavior.
"Eye of the Beholder" is great too. Maybe a bit over the top, but I still remember seeing it for the first time and being truly surprised at, well, the surprise! Plus, any episode featuring characters with silly animal heads can't be all bad.
