I don't think calling it "freeloading" is fair. Although many people end up homeless for various reasons, some chose to be homeless in order to live in an alternative (albeit a bit extreme) lifestyle. I see this as an amazing opportunity to teach the world something good. This, however, is not the first time the homeless have come together in an organized way: I present the hobo Code of Conduct.
I think it's really sad that everyone immediately jumped on Alex, the journalists, the inventor and the MIT professor without considering what this invention could mean or what positive effects it could have.
I'm not talking about perpetual motion, here. I'm simply saying that if a magnet could make engines more efficient or use less gas or do something positive for our everyday life, that would be really great. I know nothing about science - my study lies mainly in the fields of dead languages and painting. My point is that when explained this invention could have good, positive and helpful effects and people jump immediately into arguing semantics! Think about what that says about yourselves!
I'm Liz, and I read pretty regularly. I just got an account recently and I'll probably start participating more. Yay!
I'm a college student in NJ - I study Classics and Studio Art. I enjoy having completely useless (well, sometimes it's pretty useful) knowledge to trow around. Good stuff for cocktail parties, regular parties and just plain ol' conversation. Some of these articles have even helped me with my classes, which blows my mind.
I'm so glad you've made it to 12,345 posts and I look for ward to many, many more.
