Skipweasel's Comments

The login seems fudged - you can't easily sign in and return to where you were. I end up closing the tab and commenting again when I've signed in.

The grey space at the top probably had adverts in it, but since I'm not in the US none of them would mean anything to me anyway. I'd lost 2/3rd of its height

The social media buttons - I've never used them and I haven't visited most of the sites they link to.

Nested commenting might be nice - though don't follow Consumerist.com's example 'cos theirs runs out of width very quickly.

Links always open in a new tab for me 'cos I Middle-Click on them so I don't really care what you do with them.

Use more width - even my elderly laptop has plenty of
space left.

I've never used the browse-by tabs and only use the Search slot once in a blue moon.

I've no idea what the QueueBot is and I don't think I've ever looked at the Up Coming tab.

I find the grey background image in the comments area distracting. I only recently actually bothered to read what it says.

I like the general lack of trolls and adverts. Do they get posted and then deleted, or do people just behave themselves?

"In a major leap forward for astrology, yesterday all persons born under the sign of Scorpio were run over by egg lorries." - From Hoggart's column in The Grauniad yesterday.

I wonder how much the effect would be reversed if the names were presented not in the same sequence as the expected outcome? In the example above you read two names, look at two shapes and there's probably a strong bias towards assigning the first name to the first object.

I'm sure this was controlled for in the experiment, but those data aren't offered.

Most demolitions seem to do a lot more deliberate fragmentation of the structure, presumably to avoid exactly this problem. You often see complicated series of shots running around inside first before the "hull" is brought down.

Why do Americans use such a perverse format for date? You don't put the seconds between the hours and the minutes, so why put the days between the months and the years?
Anyway - YYY/MM/DD makes more sense - so us Brit don't get full marks either.

Meg - declutter doesn't come close. Declutter for the SpacePort (it used to be a car port until I needed more space, so the kids named it the SpacePort) is like describing War and Peace as a novella.

Booblehead - yup, I wonder how they controlled to seperate cause from effect. I've a feeling that this whole study may be putting the cart before the horse.

Our twelve year old is in bed 10.30 on school nights, but he's free to read until he drops off.

Didn't the US military recently have red faces because their surveillance drones send unencrypted video feeds to the operator?

Neat toy, though - shame it's so expensive.

It's missing the one I really need - "tidy the workshop". It's got to the point where I'm having trouble standing safely at the table saw and my brother's offered me a spare radial arm saw - but I ain't got room for it! Eeeek - tidy up time.

Can we add, just for Americans, insure/ensure?

You don't take steps to insure something doesn't happen unless you're paying for an indemnity.

You /ensure/ it isn't going to get broken because you don't want to pay to insure it.
