Yebbut - it's still impressive. People can, in the right situations, do the right thing properly.

That's ice. You can see it floating, on occasion. It gets very grubby in the muddy water you find on eroding mountainsides. The alps are young - so they're eroding fast.

And always remember, it's not plagiarism, it's resarch. (Tom Lehrer).

Yeah - we had one about that long ago - and yeah - it was fairly useless. For one thing, if there's any grease on the sealing faces it doesn't stick properly - and many foods are slightly greasy.
It seems like an overly technical solution to a simple problem.

While I'm quite happy to celebrate the end of the Great War, I feel uneasy about celebrating its start. I get the feeling the whole thing is driven by media and political imperatives rather than public sentiment, this time round. I don't think my either of my grandfathers (who both survived the Somme and other battles) would be celebrating the beginning - only the end.

My worry would be whether the walls can take the outward pressure of the water. In general, masonry is rubbish at resisting lateral loads.

Mmm, wooden Scrabble tiles. We have a set from an old game which we use with a more modern board. They're so much nicer to play with.

Something similar happens to Horatio Hornblower in (I think) the first book. He is in command of a captured French freighter carrying rice, but unknown to him, it's been holed below the waterline.

No eggs for us Brits, it seems. Can't have the video, being lower class people.

Now that I really like. I'd worry a bit about the charred wood not being very stong and rather prone to rubbing off on clothes, but I think I'd put ujp with it 'cos of how they look.

Cor - wish I could have a new sewing machine. I've a set of curtains and our son's jeans to repair and I can't find the power lead/foot control for my elderly New Home machine. Might have to find a "wong" one and make it work. Or build something modern with which to drive it.
But a new one woujld be lovely.

Not as bad as the all-black bathroom...now that really was ugly. Black grout, black tiles, black towels...just ghastly.
