Smitty's Comments

@marcintosh

I'm right there with you in group seven. Never heard of the show till now. No cable and no cares.

If there is a show worth my watching, it's worth my money... I'll get the DVDs.

This, probably isn't one.

Errrgh. This is one of those seemingly painfully gray areas.

Bottom line: It wasn't just a breach of "civil rights," it was a blatant violation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Probable cause doesn't cover the unlawful detainment of eighteen civilians.

Actually, the Mon Calamari do spend a fair bit of their lives underwater. It would be a safe description to call them 'Amphibious.'

That is why in the Canon, they make better space combat tacticians, living underwater makes three dimensional movement is inherent and intuitive to them as a species. Whereas land dwelling humanoids are only inherently familiar with two dimensional thinking.

Yes, I am a geek and I fly my flag proudly.

That dress is ugly. In any era.

Social arms race indeed. The Prom is yet another one of the first world problems that only serves the purpose of being divisive among the students in the school. The haves and have nots, the well-to-do and the budgeted. The vapid, shallow, self centered and those who's eyes have opened just a little to the greater world.

"Deathstar takes too long to charge up and cannot hit a moving target."

Really? Did you pay attention to the end of Jedi? This is not some deeply esoteric nerd knowledge... It is an internet meme for crying out loud.

"IT'S A TRAP!"

As the Rebel fleet gets hemmed in by the Imperial fleet on one side and a fully operational Death Star on the other. The Death Star starts picking off the Mon Calamari cruisers one by one, like it is swatting flies as they are trying to FLEE.

ST shields? Pthbbt. SW has them too, they call them deflectors, as in:

"Our deflectors can't repel firepower of that magnitude."

Besides, don't forget the scale we're talking here. If the Death Star were the size of a basketball, a Borg Cube would be less than 1/8th the size of a sugar cube in comparison.

Schadenfreude nailed it. Borg = Toast. I would argue that the DS would even be able to get in a few shots because the Borg don't immediately adapt. But it would be moot because it would only take one shot anyway.

Hmmm. What would I guess If I couldn't see it:

1) Styrofoam blocks being twisted, bent and rubbed against each other.

2) Bugs. Lots of 'em.

3) Outer space static/interference frequency shifted into audio.

Frankly, I think that with the decreased publication cycle, general loss of interest, no internet presence and general poor management over the past decade or two, Mad magazine has lost its relevancy.

Previously lagging behind MAD, Cracked ceased print publication back in '07, shifting to an entirely online model and has been doing great ever since. I think that this is the first peep I have heard about/from MAD in the same amount of time.
